Class of 2013 - We're in, now how do we pay for it?

what are you guys thinking of doing? got the money? applying for scholarships (inside/outside of duke)? loans?

I’m way too poor to pay $50,000 a year… I applied for FA and I got a pretty good financial aid estimate. But I don’t really understand all those different terms yet… They gave me a lot of scholarship money, which is really good. But I think I’ll keep applying to outside scholarships (to reduce the loan and work-study).

What about you, talkaboutambition?

^ how did you already find out your estimate? Did it say in your online acceptance letter??? AHHHH! I’m like freaking out because I didn’t get an estimate in mine…

No, I got my Duke package today (thru the mail). I guess I’m one of the few people who got it so early (I’m from NC). Yeah, it’s a pretty nice package. It has a pretty blue folder with your name on a gold sticker. Enclosed are: an acceptance letter, a reply card w/ envelope, info on tuition, list of dates on when we are gonna receive housing/class selection/meal plan/email/student ID, etc. Then for those who applied for financial aid, there’s another envelope with lots of papers on your estimates.

I’m sure you guys will receive your package very soon!

Yeh, I’m from NC and got my package today too. The folder is personalized and really nice. Just gets you even more excited about Duke!

^ I know, right? That folder got me really excited for some reason. I was like, “It’s so pretty! And it has my name on it!” lol

i didn’t fill out the financial aid forms that they sent us in a link following the submission of our application. it’s not that i didnt want to … i forgot, lol. but now i’m panicking. what do i do? is there a way to find out my estimate before actual FA is released late january?

im guessing that there will be a decent FA (meeting my EFC) otherwise idk. I will def. look into loans and outside scholarships
