Class of 2013

hey guys, i just noticed this thread and found it very interesting.
i applied to Cornell AEM via ED and was deferred.
the other colleges i applied are brown, dartmouth, northwestern, carnegie mellon, and the University of Washington.

_Silence: Thanks, man. Why don't you apply to more level unis/colleges? And btw, I really think the German unis are quite gud (Berlin U, ..).

cherry0809: I'd like to know what you found interesting about this thread? No big name unis - maybe? ;)

^ For american universities time has sort of run out by now. I wouldn't have the time to finish anymore apps anyway. But right after my exams I'm probably applying to some German Universities, or waiting, depending on the Uni. Berlin U is my top choice in Germany.^^

Time hasn't run out. Many LACs have february deadlines - esp. those which have multiple rounds of ED (i.e. ED1 and ED2). So I'd recommend you to put a bit of effort and fill in the forms. Who knows you might get in somewhere. Somewhere better than Berlin U.

PM me if you need a starter guide.

Thanks, but as mentioned I couldn't handle it with my time. I have my Abitur-Exams in February and should really get started with studying or the results will be horrible. Which in the long run could get me rescinded or seriously hurt my GPA for German Universities(or European Universities). I am busy as it is, and with any more applications I'd probably won't be able to sleep anymore because there is simply no time for it. But thanks anyway. :)

LAC... which ones???? I've decided I should apply to some just in case I don't get into my first choice schools... realised like a week too late I could have and should have applied to caltech cause I would have gotten in... at least I'm pretty sure I would have... even though its a pretty darn good school... argh

@_Silence: Can internationals apply to the German universities? Is time still there? I had heard that Jacobs university was really good, what say? Suggest some other universities. Do any German ones give scholarships to international students?

I'm pretty sure you can apply to Jacobs, I remember reading on some old thread that they have variosu 'rounds' of decisions, at least a couple of which would still be open to you now.

I would agree that there's still time for Jacobs University. I believe their last "decision" round ends sometime in march(better check the website though). I visited it once and really liked their campus. I don't know if Jacobs is good; according to a German ranking it's not. Shouldn't bother you though, that ranking was weird and I didn't understand their criteria.
Are you interested in public or private(american-style) universities? If the first, most majors are taught entirely in German, it depends a lot on the university though, what level of proficiency they require. There might be some english majors.
If the latter, there are a few english universities(other than Jacobs), but they are more or less small and really specialized. For example there is the European College of Liberal Arts in Berlin and the International University in Germany, I can't think of any other right now.
Yes internationals can apply to German Universities and yes there is still time. As far as I now most if not all Universities would not even accept applications for fall just yet, but that might be different for internationals.
About scholarships I don't know exactly, but I am pretty sure they exist for internationals.
Fees for public universities are low or non-existent, you'd have to pay for your living expenses though.
I suggest you start looking here for more information. If you have any questions just ask.

Hey thanks a lot!! I am looking for some colleges that are really science hard-score well into fields like AI and Robotics and Applied Mathematics.

Anybody looking at TU Delft or Zurich? Really high on rankings!

I want to go to Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Stanford AT THE SAME TIME!

get transfers every year then :D

Yale all the way!

noooo HPY for me.... still aiming high though....

i really really wanted stanford
to bad the ea was a brutal one
i din even get deferred :(

Happens, just rub it off and move on!

I want to go to REED badly!

I wanna go to Penn. But that's probably gonna stay a dream.
I'm nervous, it seems like I'm gonna have an alumni interview this friday, and i'm totally unprepared.

I am depressed whining. I made a really competitive + versatile application with a 2180 on SAT II and 94 on TOEFL , Global Classrooms, Science Award for Best Aptitude, International Theaters, Dances but I didn't give SAT I 'cause it WAS NOT SUPPOSE TO BE COMPULSORY for Internationals. It proved a snag.I realize my mistake now. :'-(
