Congratulations to all of you!

I hope you are all running hills, doing a few ruck marches with backpacks, and getting your feet used to walking in low quarters or leather shoes. Get used to exercising in the heat if you can.
Remember to have some fun, but not too much fun  and stay fit and healthy…

And don’t let up on academics! Study for finals. Your 8th semester grades will be sent to Admissions.

(I know, I know. Too many moms telling you what to do. ;))

alkim88:

You don’t do quals for combatives during Beast; you “learn” level I CQC one day, but there’s no eval. You can request to go to combatives school during one of your next three summers after Beast though.

adding my son!

I have already accepted my appointment. I was progressing through senior year with about a 3.5 untill 4th quarter with my grades having slipped to a 3.0. My FINAL grades, thanks to good final exam scores, remain overall unaffected.
The trend of “slumpage” is still evident though, and it worries me.

My question is, what is the degree of “slumpage” or lowering of GPA in an appointee’s second semester/4th quarter grades that is severe enough for that appointment to be revoked?
In other words, what is considered “going on vacation” for second semester in terms of GPA?

i had a friend that went to west point in the class of 2012 and he told me his 8th semester GPA was like a 2.8 and he still entered. i personally think if you didnt fail any classes or have like straight D’s, you should be OK. they’ve spent a lot of time on your app, they want you to go.

Well, R-Day is getting closer…exciting times…
Where is everyone??

Good luck to the class of 2013 - we will be thinking of you all!

Thanks, Ann. We are heading out this evening from California so my son could get used to the weather and time adjustment. We are sad, excited & nervous for him but he’s just excited.

For all the new cadets to be, enjoy the last bit of summer you got (I know I am  ) make sure to come mentally prepared and with a good attitude. The rest will come with the training as long as you hang tough. Hit me up if you have any last minute questions I will try to answer to the best of my ability. See you second detail.
