Class of 2013!

hey there ladies, here we are about to enter the month of March. Waiting for those decisions to pour in. What is everyone doing to relieve the anxiety? :)

i’m reading “new moon”…so good, I’m officially obsessed, I’m glad the twilight bug caught on to me, I just hope I find a new obsession fast to distract me! lol.

31 days left!

Ick, Twilight. :( I found that series INCREDIBLY horrific, but to be fair, I did come armed with some fierce feminism when reading it. The example it sets for young girls is apppallling.

As for Bryn - huzzah! My college acceptance list hasn't been awesome so far, so here's hoping Bryn takes pity on me. When's the exact date that we hear? (I'm sure it's listed somewhere, but take pity on me, I'm feeling worn out.) =P

I have no idea when we find out. I believe it will be the end of March, but I hope we find out earlier than that. Anyway, I read that Bryn Mawr is going to have a video for accepted students, so that sounds pretty cool!

Not a big fan of Twilight. Sorry!

squaregirl- I totally agree with you, her writing is HORRIBLE, but the plot and the story is beautiful :), I don't like how weak the girl is though...it is pretty appalling. Me neither, I've only heard from 1 out of 12..it's pretty annoying when people ask me where I'm going and I can't really say anything lol.I looked it up it says "Early April", which I'm taking as April 1st, seriously how is anyone going to make such a choice with only one month? I hate that, but they're probably suffering with reading a bunch of apps per day.

HopefulRae- A video wooo! I hope so! It's okay. Funny thing is, I wasn't either, I was the biggest enemy of that book but I never read it lol, so now I'm pretty much a hypocrite for criticizing but now being obsessed lmao. It's probably the worst written book I've ever read in my life, but the story is amazing..I think it's because I'm fascinated by love stories.

p.s. Have both of you visited/went to info sessions? I spoke with an admissions counselor/my good friend got accepted through Posse.

Heh, superwoman, I hear ya. A lot of people got into Twilight post-Harry Potter (REBOUND!), but other than the pre-teens (who are the ones I worry for), most older readers seem to acknowledge the silliness of it all. The first book, imo, was fun trash and not particularly harmful. It was what happened later that irked me. :|

Ooh, vid! I'm excited. I reaaally hope I get in now. :</p>

Nope, haven't visited! I visited a bunch of schools in November, but Bryn only got added last-minute in December, alas! I haven't been to an info session either. :( Anyone else visited? I'm interested in knowing what everyone thought of the campus.

Hey all! I'm an RDer, too, and I've visited twice...once to a spring visit program and once to do an interview this summer. It's soo beautiful there! The campus architecture is right out of Elizabethan England, and there're all these flowering trees and stuff all over. :)

I can totally empathize with all of you who're waiting for March/April to determine your college fate...all I've heard back is that I'm a "likely" to Wellesley under the Early Evaluation program, I haven't even gotten officially accepted anywhere! :( Plus, there's all the financial aid stuff...I really hope I get to compare offers at several places.

Haha, Twilight. Most of my friends have read it/have the "bug," but I haven't. No time, and no particular inclination. In general, I don't mind sort of kind of trash writing once in a while, but not when I've got so much other stuff to do. So I'm keeping busy attempting to write my senior research paper (graduation requirement, eww). Actually, more like I'm spending lots of time procrastinating on my research paper (like right now!).

squaregirl- omg! The same thing with me! It was added last minute. I did talk to an admissions counselor but it was online chatting! lmao, really weird but she convinced me to apply as well! I looked at the pictures, and that campus is gorgeous..breath-takingly beautiful. Hopefully the campus doesn't suprise me if i get in :(

LaMariposaAzul- Lucky! The pictures are incredible though. I have a research requirement too, ugh...I thought it was only me! I'm procrastinating as well, I only have two weeks left until the second research check is due :(
I'm so glad though that my last official day of having all classes is march 27th...I"m so excited. Instead of going to school fourth quarter I'm doing an internship! That will definetly make the days go by faster, and make it easier to study for AP exams = / (I'm dreading those)

March 27th?!?! Lucky. Mine is June 4th. :(

eeek! That sucks! Sorry :(

Last year, I hadn't visited Bryn Mawr until the accepted students weekend. I didn't interview or anything- it ended up being a sort of last minute application because it had been going on and off my list for months.

That being said, the accepted students weekend/mosaic (for students of color, I think) are really great events and I recommend that accepted students go. And if that weekend doesn't work- stay overnight (maybe I'll host you!).

Timeline from last year: Around March 7th, cutesy little emails went out to some applicants (pretty sure they were likely letters, basically) and we found out our decisions on the 21st of March. Good luck to everyone!

Ooh, 21st sounds good. I'm dreading the onslaught on the 31st/1st. :(

brillar- Thanks for sharing your experience with us because i thought not visiting or getting an interview would hurt me :( i guess it wouldnt! Thanks again! 21st, thats nice! i hope we find out that erly :)

Wow, yeah, the 21st is pretty early, that's good! I'm so tired of waiting.

If I get in, I hope I can make it to accepted students weekend, but I might not be able to since Bryn Mawr is a whole day's drive away from me, and I'm not really sure how that would work out.

wow that would be awesome to find out so early!
this waiting period is toture.
brillar--what happens during accepted students weekend? is it like ice breaking activities and stuff?

Oy, I applied to 5 colleges and have been accepted to four but the only one I REALLY want to go to is Bryn Mawr, the wait is killing me! >_<;;

I initially applied for Early Decision but was deferred to Regular. =/

I hate the wait but at the same time i love it. I hate it because it sucks when the ENTIRE schools expects you to get into a top LAC/Ivy and keep asking you and not knowing where i will be next year also sucks lol. However, i love it because i am so scared of what i might get (accepted or rejected) it is a really scary process all around lol.

I can tell you about the video! I got it late January (ED2), it has a current student welcome you, by your name! its was sooooo sweet I got the mail at around 4:00 am and waited until 7:00 for my parents to wake up, to show it to them before I go to sleep :)
and twilight...I used to like love stories way back, when I was 13 or so, especially stuff like Princess Diaries (still like it)... but not twilight...the plot looks unusally loose, I wouldn't expect someone a hundred years old to get spontaneous teenage crushes (which is what the movie looked like to me), never read the book...

Cool, yea Twilight doesnt seem to have any fans in terms of all my friends lol. but its all good! Congrats on getting in!:)

Aww, that video sounds so sweet!

I want to get that video!
