Class of 2014 Decisions Thread

cookie1, it still says “carefully considered”. Good Luck, but I wouldn’t keep your hopes up for being admitted, even if you’re waitlisted (just by judging on the number of people on it).

Waitlisted. Oh well. He decided on Purdue already, but, I was hoping he might change
his mind for the cost factor. Good luck too all!

I know addmission is unlikely. But, does anyone know what the rate acceptance rate is after being waitlisted for liberal arts and sciences.

RedZero-People have been rejected, but you’re right, a lot of people are getting waitlisted. I don’t know if MN is expecting a spectacularly low turnout and so they want to have lots of people on hand to offer admission to…or what. It’s very mysterious, this waitlist. Are people ranked on it? Or just…clumped?

I applied way after the priority deadline, got my letter yesterday, into college of biological sciences.
out of state
act: 33
gpa: 4.4 weighted(outta 4.5)
lots of ecs, etc.
also into Alabama, LSU, Florida.
waiting to hear from Clemson, Duke, Notre Dame, Boston College, UNC Chapel Hill, Northeastern.

Ah thanks for confirming this oxymoronicalgem. Btw, do you know if we have to send something back to tell them we still want to be on their waiting list? because a couple of schools have already asked that if I don’t email them back, I’d be off their waiting list.

After applying way back on September 1st, I finally recieved my letter today-
Denied-College of Biological Sciences
Waitlisted- College of Liberal Arts

I’ve been accepted to Indiana University, Marquette, Purdue, and Michigan State.
Denied UW-Madison.
Will be attending MSU.

Good luck to all those still waiting for a response!

^ See you next year at MSU, cody. UMN got too hardcore. Not fun.

Accepted to U Minnesota today.

Really generous of them considering I never paid my app fee.

Minesotans really are the nicest people ever :)

^ I almost don’t believe you. You’re telling us that while thousands of kids who were perfectly qualified didn’t get accepted, they openly accepted someone who wasn’t even on task enough to complete their application?

Still, congrats on the acceptance, but that actually irritates me a lot. Not you, but the admissons committee. Not to sound arrogant or anything (and having nothing to do with OHKID’s case), but based off my own experience and a lot of people I’ve seen on this board, they made a lot of REALLY bad decisions this year.

Kids in my school with 19 ACT’s and/or 2.7 GPA’s have gotten accepted. My best friend who had a 21 ACT and like 3 gym classes this semster got accepted, while I was rejected with a 3.6 GPA, 33 ACT and SEVEN AP’s this semster. I didn’t even get WAITLISTED first. I don’t know what they’re thinking, seriously. And this isn’t all about me. Basically everyone on here who got waitlisted should’ve gotten in.

Grrrr. Kind of venting… my apologies

^ You’re actually right. I live relatively close to you and I could name ~10 kids from metropolitan minneapolis who got in with GPA’s under 3.0 or ACT scores under 20. And I know a LOT of smart kids who broke the 26 barrier on the ACT who didn’t get in.

Ha I’m guessing I got rejected I applied on like… December 3rd but never heard back in anything no email or letter… I guess thats too bad i would check on line but I lost the thing sign in… Darn it was my first choice

^ wouldn’t count yourself out just based on the time frame. DS got accepted just last week and his app. was complete Sept. 8.

Brekfast - I can see why you’re frustrated, if there was rhyme or reason to this then ok, but there doesn’t seem to be any.

Any OhKid may have been inadvertently thrown in with the Golden Gopher fast app group (ha! fast app?! but I digress…) They didn’t have to pay the application fee.

i was accepted to liberal arts on thursday i just havent been on in a bit!
my friend who i was going to room with however was waitlisted :[

But I applied ea so all the acceptances were supposed to be out by the end of feb… So that kind confirms it

^ still you should have heard one way or another. This warrants a phone call.

Yeah, That’s what I thought too… I’m not sure what number I call… my mom thinks its because our address is to the house i go to school from which is in a masssssive rural area and in the east which got bombarded with 4-5 feet of snow this month so I’m not sure

Yes, but i applied way after the deadline and got mine, so im sure you should already have it regardless.

Wow, I’m sorry Breakfast Champion. I feel really bad about being admitted now…

To be honest, I thought they weren’t going to consider my app. I never intended for them to (after all, I never really completed it…). I did the same thing for U Alabama and they threw out my app there. I really wish I could just hand you my acceptance.

Maybe admissions could cut us a deal??? :)

Me too OHKID. I applied way after deadline to Minnesota. I can’t tell you why certain people were accepted while others weren’t. Im from Florida and recently a girl from our school with a 24 on the ACT was admitted while a girl with a 31 was flat out rejected, and we are all puzzled as well.
