@Coolbrezze: You haven’t heard back from UMN yet? … I haven’t looked at your stats yet, but I thought someone who knew UMN so well like you must have heard back from UMN a long time ago…

Got accepted today YES…

26 ACT
EC’s, a good amount
College of Liberal Arts
3.95 UW GPA, 4.3 scale

Its good to be a GOPHER!!!

Good luck to all those who have not yet heard back :)

This is getting frustrating, like Coolbreeze, DS has had app in by Oct., and stats are in line (or above) many already accepted. With all the early acceptances the wait is puzzling.

No, not yet… I just do a lot of extensive research into all my potential schools.

But what school did you apply to? Liberal Arts is less tough to get into and probably make decisions sooner. Carlson, CBA, and Technology probably are tougher and release admissions later, especially Technology.

@Coolbrezze: They just informed me that my application was complete a few days ago. So judging on your case, I guess I have to be very very patient, especially when I’m int’l and apply to IT T_T

I applied to their Liberal Arts College.

I also applied to liberal arts college, but I also have not heard! Is the liberal arts college slow? :[ I am getting a little nervous, and this is a little inconvenient.

Not sure, read a post before that CAS tend to release most acceptances last.

Accepted to Carlson Management =)
I’m an International Student.
30 ACT
ECs are a myth here =P
GPA: 4.8 in a 5.0 scale

Congratulations to some, Good luck to the others =D

I applied to liberal arts and heard back fairly quickly… Best of luck to those still waiting.

^
Thanks. Well my stats are below their average so… my chances are high of a rejection.

I have read post of students who have been rejected already so maybe I’m on the fence.

so those who are accepted earlier, whole departments (like liberal arts), get better choice of housing with their ability to register earlier than those in more competitive majors?

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t seem in the “spirit” of the (forget the name of it) fast app. Like Coolbreeze, DS is just getting antsy with having had such a long wait.

AL34 you are mistaken on how housing work. You apply for housing with a $25 non-refundable down payment after you submit your application and get your ID number. You do not wait until you are accepted. The date you apply for housing even before being accepted is the date that is on record for priority in getting housing. I applied for UMN in October, and housing in November, was wait listed and got into UMN in May(this was last year). I got my first choice of housing because I submitted the housing app in November.

^ Thanks!!!

my stats are above the average for University of Minnesota twin cities liberal arts school, but I am just curious because I have talked to many people in my area who have also not heard back. Just curious why some people get accepted so early and others have to wait so long?

It might just be a matter of luck.

I’m an international applicant so my documents took a while to arrive, sometime around beginnings of January (sent them in December). I doubt the time it takes for decisions are related to stats or the final decision though.

I just found out that I got into the Institute of Technology! Yay!

Did your application status ever change?

Yeah, my application status online did change on the same day I received my acceptance letter. I’m in Virginia by the way. I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 650 on the math and critical reading sections of the SAT and a 470 on the writing section. It may have helped that I had taken four AP courses during my junior year, and am now a full-time student at the local university.
