Class of 2014 From Nepal

hey!!! how did i miss “mitbabu”'s post??? i still can’t see it…

yeah i also need to know about the AP’s…any AP takers here??

Check out collegeboard’s website for APs. [Advanced Placement Program ?About AP Exams and Courses](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Get the Most Out of AP – AP Students | College Board)

For those interested in AP Exams,

About test date, fees, and test centre

AP tests are held once every year (sometimes around May) at Lincoln school. Since it is the only test centre, you must register 2-3 months prior to the test date in order to procure a seat. To register for AP tests, you need to go to Lincoln school and meet Mrs Rajbhandari and talk to her.
For more information about test dates and fees:<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Regarding preparation:

The only preparation book that you can buy here in Nepal is CliffsAP (physics, chem, calculus…).
So, the best thing to do is go to USEF Nepal. They have a variety of AP preparation books.

Why take AP Exams?

The two primary reasons for writing AP exams are:

a) A good AP score will help strengthen your application.

b) Many colleges provide certain credits and/or Placement based on AP test scores.
For information about AP Credit Policy : [AP Credit Policy Info - Advanced Placement Program - AP Policy Search](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Hope this helps. :)

@cc, I didn’t read your post before I posted. :p

thx guys…have u guys taken it???

I thought of taking it but I had exams around that time.Also, the fees are ridiculous-around $86 per test.

@lluvia: I bet you were typing all that when i posted the link. :p

P.S. I believe there aren’t that many who actually take the test.

“the fees are ridiculous-around $86 per test”…i heard of fee waivers!!!else it will cost around 30,000 Nrs…god!!!

So did I but the counselor at Lincoln School seemed reluctant to say anything about that. He kept on saying “I’ll look into it.” Anyways I couldn’t had taken the test even if I wanted to because of my exams so I didn’t do much research into the matter.

How many tests are/were you planning to take?

P.S. However, I am still not sure if internationals qualify for fee waivers and even if we did the fee would still be around $56 per test, according to this link:[AP Exams - AP Fee Waivers & Reductions](AP Exam Fee Reductions – AP Central | College Board)

frens ill be graduating out of high school on may-june of '10(i mean results will be out by this time)…my a levels frens are abt to apply ED dec '09 …can we apply ED during our senior high school year???im totally confused!!!its just abt 2 weeks our college have started and my frens are abt to fly…lol

They’ll be applying with mid-term reports, predicted grades and stuff.

@Pushpa Kamal,
that’s the best thing to do. Go ahead and apply!

@lluvia:con:fuego
man!!!i dont know anything and u are telling me to apply???hahaha…to inform you… im a plus two student…fawking helpless…we dont have any GC…nobody in the whole college knows anything about this college admission process…at least i know something…and as there is a saying “little knowledge is dangerous”…im in the circle of it…:(

@ccprofile…will they get into a good college with MID TERM REPORTS, PREDICTED GRADES and stuff???

mid term reports…i think cc means to say internal exams and all…
if you don’t have a GC it will be hard though.
Give the SAT and correspond with the colleges. Ask them what you don’t know and also keep using the cc. there are many helpful guys around here.

@Pushpa: Hey, I’m a +2er as well and I in no way feel that I’m disadvantaged. Just face the whole process head-on and go in with a positive approach. And yeah by mid-terms I did mean the internal exams and I can’t see why they can’t get accepted to good colleges with Predicted grades. And about no one knowing anything about college and stuff at your college, that’s pretty much the norm everywhere.(BNKS and RBS are the exceptions)

P.S. You’re not helpless. :)

@pushpa
all the more reason to do your best in your internals

I was wondering, since i consider myself to be in infancy in this field, i was hoping to get some advice on what i should be doing. I am hoping to pursue a Major in either Astromony or IT(dunno if thats the correct word :p). Can please anyone guide me on what I should be doing, until I apply for a college in the US?

If you’re really thinking of going to the US …do the SATs

hey pinkfloyd4life welcome to CC!!!
