Class of 2014 From Nepal

@ linux

if you’re giving Maths II i strongly recommend chemistry

@Duke99
Yes, i am giving Maths II now i think i will give chemistry (though i find chemistry quite hard to study than others so i was thinking of Maths I)

Interestingly, I hated chemistry all my life

This also applies to me

if mugging up doesn’ work,then what’s the best way to tackle CR???

@duke:Thanks. I’m much more relieved about the test now.

I too hate organic chemsitry. Fortunately Chemistry subject test doesn’t have much of that.

and can someone give me advice on how to do the paragraph based questions?? I thought sentence completion was the hardest but this paragraph based questions are even worse!!!

Tell me about it. I’m improving on that type of questions as well.

@cc

what do you recommend? reading the paragraph first or the questions

I tried both but only the first method worked for me. Whenevr I read the questions first, I am unable to complete the section on time.

And btw which books did you use to prepare for the subject tests? I am currently using Barrons and how closely do Barrons’ practice tests resemble the actual test?

Barrons practice tests are actually harder i think. And while studying too i found barrons dull. I read PR physics and it was really interesting to study. I read barrons chemistry which made the dull subject even duller. PR fairly resembles the actual test. Means if you get a little less in Barrons tests, there’s no need to worry.

i recommend studying from PR and also doing the tests of Barrons and Kaplan

i m new here. i m tryin for u.s for class of 2014. Can u plz suggest me the ways to score high in sat and toefl!. how can i improve my speakin in toefl? plz cud u suggest me for that…

As far as the SAT1 goes…only rely on the Blue-Book…PR is too easy, Barron’s is no where near the actual test…Kaplan’s good…but still nth beats the blue-book…&& the most imp thing is tht u have 2 do is read a lot of novels…i recommend austen, thackery, dickens… && vocab is a must… so i say make a separate note for the words tht occur regularly in these books…tht helps a lot…

it’s so good to see that people have been talking abt subject tests as quite easy…and getting nearly perfect scores.
it relieves us who’ve never taken the tests…thanks a lot guys.

Guys, I am really confused which one is Blue Book ?
Is this the blue book

[The Official SAT Study Guide ™: Second Edition](<a href=“Store App”>Store App)

^Yeah that’s it. The official book is known as blue book here on CC.

So, the new book is out already. I wonder if all 10 practice tests are different or if only a few are different. Does anyone know anything about this?

^
i’m just doing the 2006 edition of college board. got it from a second hand shop.

and i was thinking of studying Hardy’s works. (currently reading one).
i find dickens really hard to comprehend.
I just read a george orwell. 1984. i recommend it for the test. Has a whole lot of SAT words.

pr…couldnt get it!!!whats pr???
blue book…can we find it in the USEF library???

1) Plz note that I have a perfect GPA, a great bunch of ECA’s and shall hopefully do well in the SATs and essays.

Can you suggest some safety colleges that provide somewhat substantial aid to internationals?

2) Since most safeties have a rolling admission basis and the aid is given out on first come first sevice basis, would it be nice to apply into these during Nov- Dec period.

If so, how can that happen? Doesn’t Common app entitle us in applying to just one college under early program?
