Class of 2014 From Nepal

@ mlpn
have you given SAT I??

i am giving SAT I in Oct 10
but now i have thought of postponing to Nov or Dec coz i am planning to give the exam again in Oct Nov session
will it be good to retake the exam or not

will i able to apply in regular decision this year if retake the exams…
what do u suggest to retake or not…if i cant apply for the regular desion then i will not retake and make my mind to India for next year…and also my grade in GP is U should i pass compulsorily to apply in America

@mlpn2421 a teacher of mine once said that one should be able to pass in GP otherwise you can’t apply to US or any other country. why don’t u ask your teacher ? that would be of gr8 help.

hey guys!!! it has been really difficult to find the perfect college or university for ED? is it smart enough to apply to university than LAC for ED? Which one provide maximum schorlarship?

@mlpn
i think u have to pass GP

hey cezangel, which college/university is LAC? i’ve never heard of it…

LAC isn’t a college. It’s a type of college.
LAC stands for Liberal Arts College.

can we call colleges/universities like MIT, harvard or princeton as LAC’s?

no no no…they are not Liberal arts colleges.

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/liberal-arts-search</a></p>

check this out . It’ll help you know what colleges lie in the category of LAC’s.
and by the way, the 2009 rankings will be out in abt 8 days.

MIT, Harvard and Princeton come into the category of national universities.

According to USNWR Liberal Arts Colleges are colleges that “emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half their degrees in the arts and sciences.”

And, National Universities are places that “offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees;some emphasize research.”

hi bros… how u doin…
waitin for new usnews rankings…
will then decide…

I don’t get it. Why exactly are you waiting for the new rankings? It’s not as if some university is going to jump 100 places and a difference of 4-5 spots isn’t much of a difference either.

hey ccprofile thanks for info abt LAC’s n duke99 you too. you guyz are simply gr8 n seem to have gr8 knowledge about US admission process.

by the way, as it is clear that to get scholarship OR optimum financial aid we have to have gud SAT scores. now, there’s a test called ACT(American College test). I’m THINKING abt giving ACT instead of SAT… coz a lot of colleges/univ. in us are accpecting ACT scores too. Fees for ACT are half than for giving SAT fees. I think, It would be a gud option to save money by preparing for ACT in replace for SAT. As far as the pattern is concerned, the patter of these tests are equally similar, they have a lot of similarity besides the biology section in ACT. I don’t know if center for ACT is available in Nepal or not…anyways guyz suggest me some advice on this… i need ur help

if a college drops just few places… da addmission there will get much easier than b4… that makes a dfference between gettin addmission or not…

n even if a college drops few places, it doesnt mean dat its quality of education has fallen as well… quality cant just drop in a year… nor it means its going to cut its financial aid…

i hope the college i wish to apply falls drastically…

thats wat i think… ur free to comment on it… n pour in ur ideas…

i am not dat gr8 student… just got my A level results n am not quite happy wid it…

yeah Nepal does have ACT centre, its Lincoln… next test is on 24th oct…

basically ACT tests ur speed but doesnt test that much vocab like SAT… so if u are fast in answering questions then this is a better option than SAT… but if ur not that fast then i suggest u to give SAT…

oh sorry next ACT test date is on 12th sep, then 24th oct… u can register in [ACT, Inc. : A Student Site for ACT Test Takers](<a href=“The ACT Test for Students | ACT”>http://www.actstudent.org/)

u dont loose anythin to register… so u can…

I believe that the ACT test centre in Nepal is Rato Bangala School. http://www.actstudent.org/cgi-bin/codes/tc/intl_lookup.pl</a>
Also ACT isn’t really cheaper than SAT at all(if you take the writing section i.e.). It costs $73 (with writing).
@highly-ambitious: Almost every college that I’ve checked into accepts ACT so you don’t really have to worry about the university not accepting your ACT scores. So, if you feel more comfortable with ACT then go for it.

I doubt that a college would get easier to get into just because it lost a few places in USNWR rankings.

i am not sure might be…

oh yeah i have a serious doubt…

i wrote my A levels nov 08, n got an A, but percentage wasnt that gr8, just 81 or sumthin…
so i thought i cud improve in that, i know its dumb… even my teachers said so…

anyways i wrote it again this june… and i got a B (hard luck)…

im sure da colleges wud require an explanation for that, wat shud i give n shud i give n explanation without them askin me… becoz it will have a really wrong impression abt me, dat i cannot maintain my standard… they might dump my application right away…

what shud i do…
