Class of 2014 housing!

I looked at Horton on my shadow day, and the rooms are big. Also there are only two rooms per suite, which would be nice. I think its also pretty much the same for Hardin, Koury, and Craige North, too.

Do any current students on here have opinions on the Carolina Experience or W.E.L.L. living learning communities? Or substance-free, I suppose? Though, that’s really my parents pushing me to try for that one, haha. Thanks!

lol, I don’t know anything about housing in Chapel Hill and I’m the only guy at my school who is going to attend there.

…Im pretty stressed about dorm life…

How is Carmichael? How hard is it to get in? Is it mostly freshmen or upperclassmen?

@TarheelWannabe- Have you visited campus? I don’t really think that housing is going to be too big of a deal, honestly. Some dorms are probably marginally nicer than others, and some are marginally more social, etc.

I think the bigger issue is who you’re living with.

Somewhere around Joyner would be ideal for me. I visited back in January and had friends in Joyner, Granville, and Hinton James. I rather not be all the way in South campus though. I would rather reside in Granville than Hinton James, since it’s nicer and Hinton James is much too white for my liking.

A friend of mine is in a living learning community, I think. He enjoys it and he’s a very well-rounded person.

Too…white? Racially or the color of stuff? Hahaha, I hope it’s the latter, for my sake! :D

Anyway, Joyner is nice, but how about the apartments on campus? Ram and Odum Village seem nice enough. It’s a shame they don’t take freshman I think. But…I’d like to apply there as my first choice.

Yes, the latter.

I like the space it has, but the white walls seem much too infirmary-like.

do most people find roommates before filling out the housing application?

A lot do, but not “most”.

How hard do you think it is going to be to get in the Morrison dorms?? And is it true that now all residence halls have A/C? And what is so wrong about Craige and Ehringhaus??? Sorry about all the questions! :)

I’ve heard that besides Morrison, Hardin and Craige North have pretty large rooms. Can anyone confirm? Also, how social are these compared to say HoJo or Morrison?

Also, I know that in Granville, you can request suitemates as well as roommates. Is this true of dorms on South Campus as all?

I dont know if I quoted this right, abcderinkay, but I just visited UNC last week, and I went in the craige dorm and saw a model room

There are “technically” suitemates because the dorms are set up like outside hallways, and then you open a door to your “suite” per say, and there are two doors on the left, and two on the right, and a bathroom straight ahead. each room has two people in it, so technically u have a roomate and then 6 other suitemates, and you all share the same bathroom.

Im still deciding which I should stay in…im thinking either craige north or eringhouse? if anyone thinks those are good or bad please let me know!

oh jeez, I just realized what you were trying to ask abcderkinkay…and I am wondering the same thing…I am a little scared of random suitemate assignments…

does anyone know if we can request suitemates in south campus dorms?

tornbwtwoschools, you can request a specific roommate on the housing application but you have to know your future roomates PID number

Where is the housing application? When I click on the housing application link here [First Year Students: Applying for Housing | UNC Chapel Hill Housing and Residential Education](http://housing.unc.edu/future-residents/first-year-students/first-year-students-applying-housing.html)
all it does it bring me to the myUNC page, where I see no application… Where is it?

https://myhousing.unc.edu

the above link is more direct. :)

When is the housing app due?

May 1st for priority registration.

I believe priority registration is May 15th actually.
