***Class of 2014 NMSF Qualifying scores***

209 is good enough in Arkansas!

Per principal

“I’m happy to say that my daughter made it with a 219 in PA according to her principal!”

Thanks for that. Our S is sitting at 220 and his school will not report until the last second.

my student was notified she is a semi-finalist in Wisconsin with a 210. Don’t know the cut-off

Still have heard nothing in Ohio from my daughter’s school. I know I shouldn’t be worried, but somehow I am (she got a 216). Totally irrational, I know…

updating TX, PA, CA, AR, & WI

Please use this template that explains the symbols below for each state

See the stickied FAQ thread in this forum for links to lists of previous scores.

After the press-release date in mid-September, qualifying scores will be available by phone from the NMSC. Here is the number to call–the receptionist will give you one “qualifying score” when asked.

You can feel free to edit the list yourself. Or simply post your information and rely on others to edit it in.

If you have been notified that you are NMSF, post your score (and your state) if it is lower than the score already posted for your state. It will then become the lowest known qualifying score and be indicated as “<=”.

If you have reliable knowledge of what the qualifying score for your state is (try asking whoever notifies you!), post it here, too. It will become the definitive cut-off score for your state indicated by “=”.

Finally, if you know that you did not qualify and had a reasonably high score, it can also be useful to post your score as an example of the highest non-qualifying score. This can be indicated by “>=”

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

Texas, another 4 point hike from last year & another all time high (219 two years ago in the 2012 competition)

Tough year this :(

rockfish, thanks for your comment on it being a tough year. That encouraged at least one of the consolation prize parents over here. Kid is thankfully fine about it although they were shocked to realize one of their target schools(with full tuition) will still be in range of $20000 a year. Guess they assumed full tuition meant full ride and did not realize impact of missing NMSF until yesterday. and don’t worry all. I will minimize that for them down the road. I was just very upset yesterday. And in the bigger picture. All of us who have kids or are the kids themselves who likely have SAT’s in the 2000 range(with many even higher) so there are still lots of options, including some scholarships, at many places. To those who made it, CONGRATS, and enjoy the rest of this crazy ride :)

Suzy’s mom, give ur school a couple of days but then follow up with them. Score appears to have made it based on other reports from your state and you want to make sure there is not some technicality(esp a fixable one) that caused no letter to be sent. if there is a fixable technicality, you want to have time to fix it. that being said, odds are school did not get letter yet and it’s in transit.

Mom of Suzy - Nothing is irrational at this point. We are all a bit skittish!

Thanks, everybody. I even pulled her score report from last year. No asterisks by her name, and definitely a score of 216 (which she triple checked on College Board). I guess we’ll wait a day or two and see what happens. She is on edge, though, as am I!

ROCKFISHDG: See KY (post 748) at <=212

We are also in NE Ohio sitting on a 216 with no word yet from school. Gaaaaah.

JParent, that makes me feel better. I think the info on here is accurate, so I really think it’s just a waiting game. Anyway, if Suzy or I hear anything today, I will post. I seriously wonder if they weren’t all sent out Tuesday, but the mailings started then…therefore, receiving the letters was “staggered” for some reason.

I’ll fix it ASAP :)

My daughter in Ohio with a 216 was told she did not make it because she goes to a boarding school. She is crushed, and I am beyond ready to rant.

Virginia update: my son did not make the semifinal round with a score of 221. Ouch. Best of luck to all.

My condolences, SuzysMom. As is indicated in the template, boarding schools (defined, I think, as a school where over 50% of the students are in residence) are treated separately and grouped into regions of several states where the highest cutoff score of the member states is used as the pertinent qualifying score.

updating with VA somber news :(
