@Mustang2014 We narrowed it down with multiple posts on KY - 210 didn’t make it, 211 & 212 did… So 211 is the cutoff

Mustang - per principal - Congrats to you!!

According to my son, who received the information from his high school today, the Az cut odd is 214.

KYCATSFAMILY,
Oh Thank You so much…and congrats to your family as well…I’m a single mom and he’s my only child…he’s worked so hard and worries about paying for college…we are hoping for the University of Kentucky Patterson scholarship. Now it could be within his reach! Congrats to all the kids who made it!

Folks, a word to the wise here…Be careful of the “according to a school administrator” sources here. I am a school administrator and I can firsthand attest that the state cutoffs were not in the notification letter. Some schools with multiple semifinalists may be able to deduce what the cutoffs were by knowing who made it and who did not, but its not being given to the schools. They did promise to send us a booklet with all nmsf names later (probably after the Sept 11 press release date). I just wanted to stress caution here. So many of us “involved parents and students” are near cardiac arrest.

Brawny - From what I have heard, it has always been part of the letter which provides the list for the school but lists it only for one state.

Are you saying you have a letter with your school NMSFs but it does not say anything about your state anywhere in the letter?

Thank you for posting FL! My daughter has a 215, but we have not heard from GC yet!

In MD a 230 qualified for NMSF per GC. No cutoff information but at least notifications are coming in!

ptra29 - please re-confirm your 219 score as NMSF for Texas. My son scored 219 and i was preparing to address disappointment with him when he was officially notified based on the earlier 220 post. We have not received notification from school - seems it takes mail longer to get here or thru the school. thanks.

In NC a score of 223 qualfied. We’re homeschoolers and received the letter this afternoon!

Scored a 211 in ky! Excited but not too much so yet (not that I don’t trust random people on the Internet)

updating with reports from MD, NC, CO & WV

Please use this template that explains the symbols below for each state

See the stickied FAQ thread in this forum for links to lists of previous scores.

After the press-release date in mid-September, qualifying scores will be available by phone from the NMSC. Here is the number to call–the receptionist will give you one “qualifying score” when asked.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation
1560 Sherman Avenue
Suite 200
Evanston, Illinois 60201-4897
Main Telephone: (847) 866-5100
Main Fax: (847) 866-5113

You can feel free to edit the list yourself. Or simply post your information and rely on others to edit it in.

If you have been notified that you are NMSF, post your score (and your state) if it is lower than the score already posted for your state. It will then become the lowest known qualifying score and be indicated as “<=”.

If you have reliable knowledge of what the qualifying score for your state is (try asking whoever notifies you!), post it here, too. It will become the definitive cut-off score for your state indicated by “=”.

Finally, if you know that you did not qualify and had a reasonably high score, it can also be useful to post your score as an example of the highest non-qualifying score. This can be indicated by “>=”

Please note: Be conscientious as you post scores on this thread–it would be crushing to be led to believe you have made the cutoff by a post but actually haven’t. But everyone should be tolerant of mistakes, too. This is an unofficial source of information derived from a collaborative process and is not, therefore, guaranteed.

(If glido is correct) Dammit, missed the cutoff by two points :(

S1 just texted from school, “I got it!” So Colorado cutoff is <=218.

My son got his letter is school today - he is a semi-finalist with a score of 204 from West Virginia. Just got in by the skin of his teeth I’m sure, but we will take it.

per #781 the cutoff for region 2 should be <=219 so that would be the max on any of those states not already posted

I guess I am assuming the boarding school uses the same regions as the national Achievement and that may be a bad assumption…

Can anyone confirm or re-confirm the CA cutoff? There is only 1 remark on the other thread by a poster with a total of 1 post. Not doubting him/her, but many of us here are from CA it would be nice to get some more reports in.

I got a 214 in Florida… that was close. phew

My GC sounded pretty certain that the cutoff was 220, he sounded extremely disappointed about it. Not sure where he got his info but the college counseling at my school is generally known as some of the best in the state so I doubt they got incorrect info. Who knows

I second this. Any CA info would be appreciated and likewise when or if I hear anything I’ll post.
