Thanks for reporting what you knew re: TX… This is not a perfect process - Cheers!

All we know about CA at the moment is that 220 failed to make it (that was predictable with the jump in the data) and 229 did make it (obviously)… Waiting for more info

In NC, D1 just texted that she made the cut with a 216. Sure it was close for her, given the jump. We were sweating it.

Letter received today. I am a NMSF in Indiana with a 223 (I know this is not groundbreaking).

If NC cutoff is no higher than 216 and boarding school region with Ohio is 219, that could mean that Illinois has that 219 cutoff.

Regarding boarding school regions–I have never seen a breakdown of these. I only know that they exist, that one of them is the New England Region which includes MA, and at one time a poster from a few years back said there were 10. If someone knows more please share. And to avoid a possible point of confusion: the regions listed for the National Achievement awards are not necessarily the same as those for NMSF boarding schools.

Friend with 207 in MI is NOT a semi-finalist. Thankfully, my D made it with 216.
ETA- Guidance office at school handed out info to SemiFinalists today.

So looks like MI is somewhere between 208 and 212.

I’m curious how the GC in FL knew the cut off if all others have stated the letter did not include the cut off. Other cut offs have been determined based on whether certain scores made it and others didn’t. Any other information from Florida?

Texasjp…Yep thats what Im saying…
The letter only identified the finalist (we only had one) then gave instructions to the Principal for the proceedures. It also contained a example press release for use after Sept 11. There was nothing about the cutoff. I dont know about in the past but it is not on the one we got this year.

To all those in TEXAS, I can confirm that my son is a nmsf at 219. Our GC had his packet sitting in front of her as she spoke to me.

First NA score 206 in MD

My son came home from school today and said that the GC office told their class the cutoff was 214 and they would announce the list of qualifiers next week. No other information, so if anyone else has anything, feel free to post. My son’s school typically has about 10-20% of the class qualifying, so they probably have quite a few data points to go by.

Then it must be a 219 in Texas because someone already posted that 218 did not make it in Texas (man I feel for that kid)

Berricre8v,

My S is sitting on a 211 in the Plymouth-Canton, MI school district. Could you tell me which MI districts you got your information from? I contacted his guidance counselor, but she said the info was not available yet.

Thanks,
jtufts

I am in Florida and haven’t heard anything yet. I don’t understand why some people have already gotten letters through their schools and others haven’t. This is 2013–can’t they electronically notify everyone at once?
