[] Strengths: Extracurriculars
[] Weaknesses: Not many APs and SATIIs.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I showed a whole bunch of interest: Asked for and received a travel grant, interviewed with a chem professor, an earth science professor, as well as the admissions interview. Stayed in contact with faculty. Also applied to four of Wash U’s scholarship programs. (Got into the research program).[/li][/ul]General Comments: Congrats to all who were accepted! I hope to see you all at Wash U next fall!

Hewittdy: Missouri is a fairly conservative state, but WashU would NOT be representative of an attitude you might find in rural MO. St. Louis has a large, active and social gay/lesbian community and I would be shocked to find your sexual orientation counting against your admission at WashU.

[] Strengths: Normally I would say tests/scores but that seems to be a downfall at WashU that gets you waitlisted. My unique EC’s should give me a leg up. Recs were quite strong. I had 2 distinct “passions” in my application, which I’m not going to specify on here.
[] Weaknesses: No interview. Didn’t really want to go to WUSTL. Probably should have applied for scholarship.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I probably seemed like the type that really wants to get into Ivies, which is completely true. [/li][/ul]General Comments: I refrained from giving specifics, but you get the idea. IMO, this is a stupid policy to waitlist all these qualified candidates just because it seems like they won’t matriculate at WUSTL in the end.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Loved the particular essay I submitted to WUSTL, and also I think my SAT scores and everything were okay.
[] Weaknesses: No demonstrated interest
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Even though I always considered WUSTL one of my top choices because of its atmosphere, great bio/pre-med programs, location, and a lot of other factors, I never visited because it’s kind of far away and didn’t know that I could request an interview until the deadline already past. For future applicants - make sure to demonstrate interest! [/li][/ul]General Comments: I don’t think I’ll reserve a spot on the waitlist anymore because I already got a likely letter from a school that I really want to attend, but still, WashU is absolutely one of the best schools in the country for so many different reasons. Congrats to everyone who were accepted!!!
