Definitely agree with scottj. Get the RD apps ready to push the button even if a fat envelope arrives by USPS – unless BC is your strong first choice and finaid is not a consideration.

A thin envelope requires several days+ to get over the disappointment. Plus, a deferree might need ato strategize with the GC (about RD apps) and who is about to go on holiday when schools close mid-Dec. Many RD apps are due Jan 1, when school is still closed…

Blue, I was under the impression that if a student was accepted and accepted into the Honors Program, that information would be provided in the actual BC acceptance letter. Am I wrong? Does it come later? I know those who are selected to be Presidential Scholars nominees will be notified after Christmas, but what about the Honors Program?

I applied EA to BC. I just saw this on their website:

Presidential Scholars Program:
Letters of invitation to the candidates selected for Presidential Scholars Program interviews (PSP Weekend) will be mailed on Friday, December 18th via UPS Ground. Please note, due to the large volume of applicants for Boston College’s Early Action round, we are only able to notify those students who were selected to be interviewed.

Does that mean they’re NOT sending letters to people who applied EA but weren’t selected for Presidential Scholars? I feel that this statement is really ambiguous. Anyone else care to interpret?

It probably means that EA notifications will be mailed on Friday for Presidential Scholar candidates, with the rest of EA notifications coming later.

This fits in nicely with the mailing schedule last year. Most people who applied to EA last year got responses a few days before Christmas.

I found something online today from last March that indicated the BC sent out their decision letters first and then the presidential scholar letters after that. It sort of makes sense, first you get notified that you have been accepted before the scholarship. So maybe they were mailed on the 15th as mentioned here and then the presidential scholarship letters will go out on the 19th???
