shouldnt everyone just accept the waitlist…? unless there’s a hidden downside… which im totally expecting wash u to have since they hide so much stuff from their applicants

@morningrain: So they keep the application fee low, the applicantion itself short and easy (no additional essay), and send out tons of materials to potential applicants to entice them to the school. So in the end, I think most applicants will end up sending in an app anyway.

no everyone shouldnt accept. its a lot of extra trouble in my opinion if its not a top choice, and theres no FA so if you cant go without FA you’re really only taking someones spot

Why wouldnt you accept the waitlist? It doesnt cost anything or you are not forced to go there if u accept.

I dont know wat happened though. I thought I showed so much interest in WashU and had pretty good stats.

Accept the waitlist spot - it’s better to have too many offers April than no offer at all. I don’t think you’re necessarily taking away spots from other people because if they offer you an acceptance later but you want to go to another school, they’ll just move on to the other people on the waitlist.

waitlisted… forget it… got accepted to U of Chicago and like chicago better anyway…
3.85 unweighted gpa
2240 sat if anybody is wondering…

Daughter was waitlisted. 35 ACT, 2250 (sent both) 3.87, National Hispanic Scholar, National Commended, Non Ranking school - top 20%? , Yrbook Editor, Lots of Volunteer Hours etc… Was invited with free ticket to Diversity Weekend - Had a great interview she thought?, Counselor let WU know it was her first choice, Applied for 3 scholarships. I’m pretty sure they knew she was not using them as a safety - so they probably just had much better URM candidates - I’ve seen some stellar ones on here! She’ll stay on the list and hope something opens up as it was her first choice. SOOOO Glad she wasn’t rejected - that would have hurt after all she put into that application. She’ll find out when she gets back from Senior Retreat.

^^ JEEESUS… those are amazing stats + URM…

The application process is truly a crapshoot.

but maybe im just trying to justify my waitlist
stats: 36, 2320, top1%, 3.98UW, SO MUCH VOLUNTEERING OMG

goes and cries hhahaha

No predisposition…you were tufted by WashU

so i know people have been saying wash u waitlists overqualified students.
what if you were rejected from a wash u scholarship AND waitlisted… does that mean you’re not overqualified and just… underqualified?

^yeah, maybe=( I got rejected from the University Scholar program too…

That is more complicated zoomx. As of now, I dont know if I got in as my account got locked. Though, I wasnt notified that Washu was releasing decisions today via email so I think i got waitlisted. However, I got into Dartmouth with a likely and got a full ride to Vandy. Washu absolutely was a backup for me that I never would seriously attend (I know that sounds bad). Im rdy for HYPS this late march!

rtgrove:
no one got notified we just knew through cc

For all who are waitlisted, just because you are waitlisted at wash u does not mean you have no hope. My son got into all of his 4 early action schools (Notre Dame, Case Western with president scholarship, Michigan and U of Chicago). Did not even imagine that he would get waitlisted at Wash U.

@jackdaniels,
actually i got an email saying that notifications were up… i don’t know what’s up with that… but i dont think it means much.

Doesn’t sound like there’s a downside…

Or is it just in case you’ve already decided on another school and don’t want to keep them waiting…

Waitlisted. Hmmmm. Never visited and never got contacted for an interview though >.< But still…I didn’t think of Wash U as too high on my list so it’s slightly discouraging, as I’m still waiting to hear back from so many other places. I DID get the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship at Vandy and I’ve been accepted into a few conservatories, but the wait’s still tough.

I have friends at Dartmouth, MIT, Harvard, and so many other places that were waitlisted at Wash U…

urghh

Does anyone know how they rank the waitlist? What order?

@xrCalico23: Somehow I would think that if you were admitted to USP, you’d also be admitted to WashU. No guarantees of course… someone want to vouch for this?

I was also rejected from USP, but you have to understand that that’s an entirely different ball game. USP is for amazing bio/chem/physics students… I wouldn’t take that as a sign.

WAITLISTED
32 ACT
4.2 Weighted, 3.6 UW.

Kinda suprised. Got rejected from ND so it nice to hear a waitlist. But i probably wont accept as I need a bunch of financial aid and I wanna make my decision by May 1st,not wait and second guess my choices.
