Class of 2014: Where have you visited/plan to apply?

Does anyone have any knowledge of CUNY Queens or CUNY Brooklyn? Provided I don’t get into NYU with a sufficient financial aid package, those are the schools I would be interested in. Hunter has also been suggested to me if someone knows about it.

Hunter is a really cool school (though like I said, the stairs from the gym are turning me off  ). HOWEVER: If you’re looking for the “NYC experience” or something, then except for the traffic and museums (Hunter is the closest to “Museum Mile”), you won’t find it here. It’s pretty much white bread, rich people, blah. Lots of designer stores and Central Park, but compared to NYU, it is majorly TAME.

So if you had to choose, would it be NYU or Hunter?

Hunter is WAAAY cheaper (especially since you’re instate). NYU is more prestigious and, arguably, may provide a better education. I don’t know.
For me alone, I’d pick Hunter because I’m used to the Upper East Side already and I cannot afford 50K a year on college.
If I wanted the NNYC experience I’d just pick a different CUNY.
What degree are you going for?

Hey guys, senior here- You’ve visited a lot of schools :open_mouth: i didn’t visit that many by this time last year

TPjrNY hunter is a nice school. However, negatives for me were it’s predominately women, and they had little to no student housing nearby, it would be a troop to get there.

CUNY Queens, was a very nice campus. what do you want to know? It’s not an easy ride to get there, lots of teeny, tiny streets and the area surrounding is heavily Asian populated. On campus I saw a lot of Asians and Jewish people

and at no CUNY school except maybe Queens, and CCNY, and Brooklyn if you’re looking for a campus feel esp. since CUNY’s are commuter schools

Plan on visiting Pitt, Cornell, Columbia, Georgetown, Boston College (probably Harvard while I’m there, for the hell of it) and possibly Penn.

Just spent the past weekend at PSU and I ended up liking it A LOT! Before the visit it was low on my list, and now I’m strongly considering it. They’ll accept my dual-enrollment credits, campus is great, and I know I’d be really happy spending four years there :D

I plan on majoring in Communications/Journalism.

I visited HYPM over the summer and loved them all. I’ve also been to William and Mary numerous times and it’s so beautiful… I also want to visit Stanford, but I probably won’t be going to the west coast anytime soon.

My daughter and I have visited Christopher Newport, James Madison, Virginia Commonwealth, University of Delaware (she attended Summer College there), University of Tampa and University of South Carolina. She has narrowed it down to University of Tampa and University of South Carolina for advertising. We wanted to get the college visits done this fall and have her do the SATs in the spring so she could concentrate on the applications next fall–too tough to do it all at the same time in my opinion! Good luck to everyone in their searches for the right fit!

…O, probably not doing this right.
because i have no clue what i’m doing.

But anyways,
I am a senior in high school right now and i plan on going into either Musical Theater or Vocal performance. I really want to go to the University of Michigan, however, the Musical Theater program there is very competative, and my grades arent quite up to U of M standards. I have a 3.0 GPA, and a ACT composite score of 30. I have also applied to Michigan State’s Voice program, and the Musical theater programs at Oakland University and Western Michigan University. My question is, what are the programs like at these schools? I’ve done some research, and I have friends at all of these schools and they all say great things about their school, But I would like to here some other opinions about the programs at these schools.

Also, Does anyone know anything about the interarts performance program at U of M??

also sorry if i just posted this on someone elses question or something. I have no clue what i’m doing.

I plan on applying to:
NYU
Howard University
American University
University of San Francisco
Sage College of Albany [safety]
CUNY Queens
CUNY Brooklyn
Wheelock College

Can anyone here offer any words about the aforementioned schools?

Well so far I have visited:

Brown
Harvard
Cornell
Boston College
University of Pennsylvania

I plan on visiting:

Princeton
Yale (mis pradres)
Brown again (I just love it so much)
Boston University
Brandeis
University of Massachusetts – Amherst

Of those schools, Brown is definitely my absolute, numero uno, dream school. I just love it so much, the environment, the feel, the people, the academics, everything. I will be so crushed if I dont get in. I’m not applying to Cornell, because there wasn’t really anything spectacular that drew me in. Probably not applying to Yale. But, the rest I probably am, plus UChicago and Carnegie Mellon.

I’ve visited the University of Chicago, Northwestern, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, MIT, and Missouri S&T.

I’m hoping to get to University of Michigan at Ann Arbor before I apply, though that may not happen. I’ll probably get down to UIUC at some point as well.

Ha, none. If only I had the money to go all over the country visiting colleges. =/

I am going to take a trip to Vandy because it is about an hour and a half away. Besides that, there aren’t really too many nearby colleges that I am interested in.

Visited:
Harvard
MIT (legacy; first college i ever visited)
Yale
Amherst
Vanderbilt
Columbia

Want to Visit:
Princeton
Brown
Dartmouth
UPenn (legacy)
Middlebury
Williams

I don’t know if i’ll even bother visiting and applying to those places now that junior year (coupled with the harshest teachers in the school) has made my GPA plummet.

University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Harvard (not applying)

Want to visit:
UCLA, UCSB, UNC, UVA, Indiana

-Lawrence University

I’ve really quick driven through Uni of Central Florida and the rest of my apps are in the UK so I probably won’t get to visit.

I live in Florida and I’ve seen Gainesville many times, but I will probably take the official UF college tour soon. I’m also touring Georgetown, Columbia, and Brown during the upcoming winter break.
