George Washington University-loved the urban campus, but did not like the split of foggy bottom/mount vernon, also no ChemE
American-hated, huge emphasis on humanities and none on sciences
Johns Hopkins-loved! loved! loved! Considering applying ed
College of william and mary- beautiful campus and atmosphere, but middle of nowhere and not much emphasis on sciences and research
Visiting this summer
Tulane
UPenn
Northwestern
WashU St. Louis
Vandy
MIT(4th gen)
Dartmouth(legacy)
Georgia Tech
Case Western
CMU
Whooo!

Update from my old list.
I’ll probably apply to:

University of Michigan
Ohio State
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Case Western
Maybe some others. I don’t know. Georgia Tech sounds good but they only appear to have an applied math major and I’m not as interested in that.

I briefly visited Case Western. Some of the people I talked to were snobby, though it may have just been those people. I’m not a huge fan of Cleveland, though…it’s just too close.

The only college within an hour of me is a community college, so I have yet to visit any between all of the other stuff I need to do. I may visit during the summer, but I’ll also be busy then and gas money is just too expensive to drive out all the way to Albany (for The College of Saint Rose) or Alfred (Alfred University). I did do a lot of research though, and they both look pretty good. The fact that there’s absolutely no Greek life whatsoever for either school is a bonus, in my opinion! The full list of schools I intend to apply to (in order) is:

The College of Saint Rose

Alfred University

Elmira College

Champlain College (safety school)

SUNY at Albany (safety school)

Visited Rice University and the University of Texas at Austin. Rice was nice, but I definitely need to visit more colleges to compare it too. I’ve been on UT plenty of times, and it was fun, but it’ll probably be my last choice because it’s so close to home.

Applying:
MIT
Princeton
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Northwestern
Rice
UMich
UT

Considering:
Stanford
Columbia
CalTech
Duke
Johns Hopkins
UCB
Case Western Reserve
Georgia Tech
Purdue
UIUC

And that’s 18 schools… Looks like I got some narrowing down to do.

So far I visited:
Fordham (Lincoln Center Campus, love it)
Binghamton (probably not applying)
and I’ll be visiting University of Hartford on Friday.
I’m hoping to visit:
Marymount Manhattan
Rutgers
UMass Amherst
and maybe Pace and SUNY Purchase. Hofstra is very close to me (like 20 minutes if even) so, I’m not sure if I want to do an official tour and information session since I’ve been to the campus many times before for school events. The other issue is that I have a twin and we don’t want to go to any of the same schools so it’s hard to share the time.
