Class of 2014!

Hey does columbia provide plenty aid for internationals. I find their website extremely confusing,

^^Good luck! Which British universities are you applying to?

I have Cambridge, Warwick, St.Andrews, and LSE on my list; not sure about my fifth one. I also don’t have much of an idea which subject I’m going to apply for.

plz answer to #921

Just Google “columbia financial aid,” and you should find a link.

You should note, however, that most universities don’t seem to state much on the topic of FA for internationals, other than saying whether or not they’re need-blind to us.

Columbia’s neither super-generous nor in the league of NYU

Random tidbit of the day: I love going to parties :)

Random tidbit of the day: I just discovered an old anthology of English Literature in my garage, and am already perusing its yellow pages as the happy sounds of spring trickle in through my window. Ah, joy! For is not the greatest gift to man the ability to read? And when we have read, so we may think, and thereby consciously absorb the speech of the masters…

…what? :P

P.S. I haven’t been to a proper party for ages, lol, if you discount weddings… Ah well, I guess we’ll all have plenty of time to take a break from studying next summer, before college.

Haha, philosophy abounds :D.

python, you always sound so English  . I love your posts!

Btw, ‘City of Thieves’ is set in WW2 Russia. It revolves around these two young guys, imprisoned for stupidish reasons, who are given a chance at redemption by procuring 12 eggs for a colonel’s daughter’s wedding. It interweaves political tension with Russian literature with adolescent fantasies…quite an interesting hybrid, to be honest.

Damn, where are you people?

Somewhere faaaaar faaaaar away from that big bad world where I can eat my crunchies in peace :-/

I want cotton candy :S

so sad, tum log aab taak bhi bacche ho…Did I get that right??

So I write essays, right. And I think they’re good when I’m done writing. But then 2 weeks later I look at them again and they’re utter crap and I realize that I absolutely canNOT send them in unless I WANT to get rejected everywhere.

I’ve been finishing 5-subject notebooks every week since I was 8 so I know from experience that it’s fairly common to despise your earlier writing after a period of time has elapsed. But this is so frustrating because there’s so much at stake with these particular pieces of writing!

Have any of you experienced this? Is there a solution? How do I write a college application essay that stays good for over a fortnight? Is a month TOO MUCH to ask for?

@quasi and tetris: Thanks :slight_smile:

@tetris: I’ve been learning essay examples for the SAT (which I find absolutely torturous) recently, so if I don’t post as often, it means I’m giving myself a headache by frantically learning stuff off Wikipedia :P.

@Quasi: Just keep practising. It sounds awfully cliche, I know, but you’ve got time on your side. Good luck :).

@iluvia:con:fuego: Hey, is that code or a foreign language? (Sorry. I know hardly anything about other languages, so to me it could be either).

That was perfect feuga  And Quasi, I wish I at least had an essay to lose/keep :(

@quasi, i too face similar problems these days. try writng more than one essay, which can be re-used for supplements too. And keep circulating the essay among your friends and teachers for proofreading and get feedbacks from them. this helps in estimating the proficiency of your writing and keeps al;l your worries at bay.

@Quasi: It’s taken me two months to reach a concrete level with 2 of my essays. Concrete as in, 90% done.

:O STOP discussing your essays here! You are embarrassing the rest of us :(
