Gosh–so many of y’all have already heard re financial aid. DS has been accepted at six places so far, but only one has already awarded him a scholarship, and it just wasn’t enough, by a long shot. (This was a private institution—not super-expensive, but expensive enough so that $7,500 merit aid simply doesn’t cut it.)

“University of Alabama (Into Honors Program)”

@Vaalin – how soon after acceptance does one learn about Honors acceptance? Thanks in advance!

We are learning that getting the kid into college is the easy part. It’s paying for it that’s the challenge, LOL.

Willing to sell DS to the highest bidder. May the best FinAid department win. (just kidding…kind of)

Mom_I-Am, I know what you mean about relief. I never dreamed this process could be so stressful. Seems more stressful for me than for DS – although he’s the one who’s had to write a million essays!

SAT1: 2370
SAT2: 2400
A Levels: 5 A* (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Economics, Biology)
Rank: 1/350

Accepted:
Dartmouth
Brown
Bates
Wesleyan

Waiting:
Washington and Lee University
MIT
Princeton
Pomona

Rejected from:
Hanover
Ohio Wesleyan

^Is that a joke, culdesac? How could you have already been accepted to Dartmouth, Brown, Bates, and Wesleyan? Unless you applied ED, you couldn’t have heard yet. And you can’t apply ED to more than one school!

Besides, most people accepted to Brown won’t be denied by Ohio Wesleyan.

Something is wrong with culdesac’s list. Very wrong. How’s it possible to be accepted by 2 Ivies at the same time, they only have ED or SCEA, which means you can’t early to any other Ivies.
