Class of 2015 Architecture Acceptances

@mollii4‌ IT DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE THAT U GOT INTO CORNELL AND THEN GET WAITLISTED BY SYRACUSE LOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLLOLOLO

Still have yet to hear from Cooper Union, even though some ppl received denial emails. I wish they’d just put me out of my misery :frowning:

@margiela15‌ I KNOW RIGHT.

question: cornell or cooper? what do people think

@MontyPython123‌ I would say cu, but that’s only bc it was my dream school! the only bad thing to me abt cornell is the location however it’s extreeemely prestigious and ive heard that your chances of getting hired after graduation are rly great. That’s smt id look into bc the sooner u get ur hours, the sooner you can get licensed!! Either way you’re graduating with a professional degree which i think is one of the most attractive things about both schools :slight_smile:

CORNELL CAUSE I GOT A FRIEND WHO IS BRILLIANT AND WAS REJECTED FROM COOOPER UNION ART AND WAS ACCEPTED INTO CORNELL ART. CORNELL!

if only education was free

@MontyPython123‌ ya bro lol, btw cooper location beats all tho

@thegrant the admission process is weird hha

@thegrant looking fw to see yours!

The first factor is the money: How does it compare?

Second question: Have you visited either? Or will you be able to visit this month? They couldn’t be more different in environment and personality. I wouldn’t say that one is better than the other. It depends on how you envision spending 5 years and where you see yourself practicing architecture.

Cornell, of course, is a huge university (20,000+ students) in a magnificent rural setting. Even though you’ll be spending a good deal of your waking hours in the studio, you’ll still have access to everything that a vibrant university offers – academically and socially. Your dorm-mates will be majoring in everything and anything. You’ll have big sports and big parties. You also have the option to spend a semester at Cornell’s program in New York or Rome. (I don’t know that you can do both.) Cornell is also closely related to New York architecture, both in it’s NY campus and in its representation at NY firms. The Roosevelt Island Tech Campus (Cornell NYC Tech) designed by Thom Mayne has high profile impact.

Others can give you a better idea of the atmosphere at Cooper Union. It’s much smaller and much more academically focused than Cornell – 900+ students, narrow academic range of art, architecture, engineering. New York really is the campus and the campus is New York. This is a powerful draw for a student of architecture.

In America, both are highly respected by top firms. I believe that Cornell has great international name recognition (it does where I live in Asia) but Cooper has its own aura, especially in design circles.
