Happy New Year to all the people…

@all
guys suppose if i take my sat xams on june 7 …does colzboard send the marks to 4 allocated uni INSTANTLY after the results have came out?? needless to say no one’d have applied this early…

@seniors
tell us something about ivy admissions that many of class of 2015 wouldnt know…

@Prasadian: Its verryy tough :D

how tough…? :P

@madonna220
but what about those guys who get into ivians with really LOW sat, below par academics, ok ecas , avg recos…overall not an ivy material???

can anyone answer my 1st qn(#242)?

@madonna220 how tough? …ur answer is really vague…tough in terms of what?
academics/grades?
test scores?
ECAs?
voluteering?

*@!?

in terms of what???

@prasadian…in 242 were u talking abt SAT I?

ah i was confused i thut u were asking something else…

well u r correct…who would have applied so soon?..if u do take the SATs…they send the scores to that college u want instantly after the results but the admissions committee do not throw your scores away…they keep it and wait for your application packet to arrive…when the application packet arrives…there you go…thats how it goes on…

just felt like cheking up on CC today …
@prasadian … yeah the scores are sent instantly … be wise to select the four colleges … if you are unsure how the results will come out and you have time for a second test, you may even want to select only one college or none at the first time …

Thnxs guys

but can anyone answer my post #246
" but what about those guys who get into ivians with really LOW sat, below par academics, ok ecas , avg recos…overall not an ivy material??? "

Can you give some cases (and talk international, rather than US people)… we aren’t really in the same category… unless you wanna pay that is XD

@ prasadian
I guess the key to their success is their ESSAY…all other things(low sats, ok ecas…) seem to conclude that essays are the most crucial factor for the ivies…just my personal view only hai…

Just curious, how many such cases, if any, do you know of?

@rockeroncc
well…i read an article by an admission officer at Yale…it was abt a year ago…since I was tempted to IVYs(usually most of us are in my opinion)…more than that I was trying to know the importance of essay…“ESSAYS ARE NO WAY THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN THE APPLICATION, STUDENTS TEND TO REPEAT THE MISTAKE BY WRITING A GREAT ESSAY BUT LAGGING BEHIND IN THEIR TEST SCORES, GRADES, AND EXTRA CURRICULAR”…

ooh… great essays eh? Think about it in this way: 4 years of one’s life in HS one does nothing but fool around, get averages, and at that very time to write an essay, one gets a professional write the essay… lets say an Ivy guru who knows everything about good essays to target those people (assume one exists for a moment)… or maybe write an exceptional one oneself.

It’s blatantly simple : colleges hate lazy people. It’s not that hard to cook up a good essay at all. I have heard many adcoms (from top colleges) expressing their cynicism about how the “subjective portion” of the application can be (and is) manipulated to a great deal.

And besides why would a college even accept you if you first and foremost don’t prove that you can handle the academic rigor of that place?

exactly. (although there are a few exceptions… olympic gold medal is one ^_^)
