where is the fee waiver form ?? should make up our own fee waiver form?

UChigao–Better leave that one! They are really very very stinky when its matter of aid…as you might have previously read in the old threads too…

Caltech–Well…this one sounds so nice so so nice but…what I have found from my research is that they love indian and chinese students rather than nepalese…they have a nice number of internationals…give good aid…call themselves need blind(indeed they are for US citizens) but when I read in detail about what students think…they do not sound like the best choice you would have to foster your all round talents…still,they are amongst the best in teaching/results/placement…so give a try…and one thing…I don’t know what will happen but one of my friend is planning to goto caltech this year paying “full tuition” yes…“full tuition”

wooster–highly underrated but you must see what it looks like…they are amongst the best liberal arts colleges the world currently has…very nice college…gives two full rides a year to international students…

dickinson–dickinson…ranks very high in USNWR…which I believe is not the best thing to look for when you are choosing a college…I have not done too much research over dicikinson so can’t say much…oh yeah, they do give very good aid!

jacobs–now this is something to call new…earlier know as IUB, jacobs has need blind admission process which makes it favorite of a lot of students trying to pursue higher education outside nepal…there are a lot of nepalese students from malpi,bnks,rbs and even someone from chelsea got in a full ride(not the ticket wala full ride…tution+living) this year…it is a perfect model of american college outside the US…what I have learnt from my research is that they are not ABET certified which means…if you earn engineering degree from jacobs and try to work in the US…you will be illegal…you will have to take the ABET equivalent tests to certify yourself then take some other state tests to let them know that you can be given a status of chartered engineer…but jacobs has really nice programs…

northeastern–northeastern hardly provides aid to international students…you might be thinking abt the chelsea guy who got in this year…you must be known to the fact how he got his aid…somewhere in the class of 2014 thread there is written abt the aid northeastern gives…its like 150 international students and just 4 aid awards!

you need not submit the fee waiver form man…just get a fee waiver request in the letterhead of your high school…that’s all…don’t forget to get the sign of your principle and state the reason why you need a fee waiver!

@confiential2015 Does fee waiver works for all colleges or just some limited one ?

@bidur
it just works for those top notch univs with COA above 50K… if you just ask a fee waiver in state univs that cost around 20-25K then you might be decreasing your chance of getting in because they just offer scholarship to us and not fin aid i think you should not go for a waiver unless its too critical… (correct me if wrong)

and yes about that mid-yr report it is needed only if you are applying before your grade 12 results are out… else dont worry about it just use your secondary school transcripts it’ll do the work perfectly…:))

you don’t need to submit midyear report even if you’re applying before the results of 12 are out.

@Chandalsaitan On fee waiver I heard/read somewhere that only private institute waive our fees but not state universities. Most of my seniors applied to around 20/25 colleges with all fee waivers. I don’t know. I think they didn’t had any public schools in their list.

And do secondary school transcript include SLC mark sheet ?

@bidur
secondary school report means 9,10,11 and 12, so yes of course that includes SLC too.
and about that waiver thing you are right, remember what I said state unis hardly(almost nil) give app fee waiver and private mostly cost more than 50K so waiver is a need coz you need fin aid there and yes your seniors’ list probably didn’t have any pub in it…

^^ Thanks
So guys, how is SAT preparation going ?. C’mmon let’s share this thing.
I am going to register within this week for OCT. I think dates are available.
Other than CR i am also having some difficulties on the writing section, I think it is one of the easy section. Any tips for me to improve the writing section.

I’m in too

It is true that the more you write the better your score.
Anyway, SAT writing is not as important as composite score (CR+math), perhaps it is because we will be writing the application essay.
The advice for CR is KAPLAN and practice tests from collegeboard
ANd take my word don’t waste your time with BARRONS

Haha…I just noticed today that i have got a century(+) posts on the thread.congrats to me.
I saw some where in the common app about the fee waiver thing.If we ticked to the option for fee waiver than do we have to get a written letter from our school?

@Bidur
The dates are still there but hurry up nothing is for ever here myan.And for the above posts of yours,just clarify one thing hai- You fell writing easy or hard(you are saying that you are having difficulty and it is one of the easy sections):D.

@amsiost
Well come in cc myan…

welcome from my side too…
@bidur
just don’t underestimate yourself myan. Everything starts well with confidence, you got the confidence work becomes easier. Have confidence in yourself, give your best on each practice tests, wrong answers-master them so any type of that must be right next time and see your perfection on SAT, this applies to all people.
Confidence in yourself.

Guys, i thut of something but not sure abt it…wat abt collecting the real names of people who are going for class of 2014 instead of those ‘confidential’ names…after all now they will not be that much available in here and it will really be nice to know their names…wat do u people think??

@confidential
That might be a good idea unless and until they donot want that(right to privacy)…

@confidential2015 Right Now I think it is not so good idea. The whole point of this forum is Confidential Talk so it is named College Confidential but after we all get college, visa and are ready to fly off. I hope almost around same time, we could all PM each other meet at an designated place and have a BLAST. What do you think?
