Class of 2015 from Nepal

you can ask someone from a college(admission committee) to email you a copy of ISFAA (the new version) or maybe wait for a printed one that might come within like…1 month after requesting!
ask an admission officer to email one if no one is sure which one to use…oh yeah and don’t forget to ask him which one to use…

i think many have inquired abt sending attested copies of toefl/act/act to colz…so can someone post names of colz who consider attested copies?..betw im sending emails thesedays to enquire…

^^
the ISFAA is the 2010-2011 one so no need to worry and no any updates are published yet…
@prasadian
Skype and call them, that is more like real thing than email… you can ask anything you like and get instant answers, so I recommend you to start using Skype instead of email and use email only when the college doesn’t have a toll free number.
Not only for Prasadian this is a suggestion for everyone.
Bst of luck dude…for your TOEFL

@prasadian : we had already had a dicsussion about it in previous posts post #811
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1065373198-post811.html</a> . regardless I am pasting the same thing over here, with a update from ccprofile.

Most (Almost all) of the liberal arts colleges accept attested TOEFL and SAT scores ( there might be exceptions which I am sure fellow cc member will highlight) Some liberal arts colleges are so liberal with matters like this that they will even accept a printout of the scores from our college-board account with the school stamp on it.
I think national universities, state universities will be more reluctant to accept attested copies and will most probably ask you for official copies.
I am not that sure about the Ivy League colleges and how easily they accept attested scores.

ccprofile had stated in subsequent posts that among the liberal arts colleges: bates might not accept attested scores.

actually bates says sat/act are optional… ;)

i think i should share this…

Class of 2014:
New York University:: 1 student from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lazimpat(Nepali Citizen)

I was informed but was not sure…conformed just yesterday…

Wake Up!!! why am I not seeing the posts these days???let’s share something better…

@hendrix
I have been saying that since way long.but no one seems to take any notice…

guys lets share info abt our ED choice(if not here, we could at least PM each other)…what do u people think??

I am probably looking forward to Trinity or Lafayette for ED.Others???

One thing that I haven’t really understood is people opting for Trinity and Lafayette. I know most of the CCers are talented individuals, so why are u opting for those low ranked colleges in ED? In ED u have high chances of getting admitted into more wonderful schools. So why are u limiting your possibilities, opting for such second tier colleges?? All of us can easily get into those colleges in RD itself, so why not some 1st tier colleges??As for myself I am considering Swarthmore for ED. My two cents anyway!!!All the best!!

@Morrison dude
Haven’t you checked the us news ranking yet?Who says that they are Tier2 colleges?Both are Tier 1 colleges.
Trinity College- Tier1 National Liberal Arts College(NLAC):Rank 36
Lafayette College- Tier1 NLAC:Rank 38
And for Swathmore College it ranks 3rd among LAC so your choice myan…Best of luck for that!!

Sorry by “tier 1” i mean top 20 LACs and tier 2 below 20. And one more thing that i would like to tell u is that Trinity college has accepted 5 candidates from Nepal last year. Legend has it that if Trinity or Lafa accepts more students a year than it is likely that they accept only 1-2 students the following year. So i guess Lafa would be a better choice.For the class of 2012 there were 6 candidates accepted to Trincoll, while only 1 was accepted to Lafa. For 2013 2 Trincoll, 5 Lafa. Likewise for 2014 5 Trincoll, 2 lafa. So if the same trend continues, Lafa could accept more student.

now we’ve got one good news. Google has brought the service of international calls in its own web-mail service(Gmail). And yes, the call to either US or Canada is free till the end of this year. It’s like a boon to us. It has dismissed the need to search for a toll-free number and contact the admissions office using Skype. I’m sure all the 2015ers will be benefiting from this service as to get their queries processed in a real-rime communicative environment. Enjoy guys!!!

yeah…i also think we should atleast share where we r eding if not the whole list, arent we in disguised names already, wats there to hide???
anyways, i have a really random thing about eding-currently im thinking of trincoll(definitely not lafa) but theres also a side of me that persuades me to apply to brown/cornell/williams keeping in mind that ed is the best chance we have to get into these colz…
but another side(probably most of nepali ccers) of mine says that i would want to be secured VERY EARLY that im getting into a gud clz if not raned 1/2/3… with substantial amount of aid…this might be fairly bcoz of the people we r talking to. i remember one senior that i talked to once who scored 33 on act , st As, unique essay, nice portfolio,blah blah …he was opting for stanford initially but he later ed-ed to lafayette but was deferred (ended at a gud colz ranked 70s with gud aid)…whilst i have also taked to guys who got into grt colz with below par scores n all that…so u cant tell really …i think its the gut feeling that makes one to apply ed to top colz n if ur in, ur r IN !! im still undecided on ed though…anyone has something to say?

@morrison
i think its 3 to lafa in class of 2014
but dude, u cant expect for a bunny to come out of the hat everytime, u can either pull out a killer whale or an ant…who knows, the numbers can change…thats my two cents
anyways i respect u for eding to swarthmore.
hope i had that gut feeling!

@prasadian - tks bro!!!:)

what i think is, when we already have two ed options, why not give a shot to some high ranked school for ed 1…who knows, maybe we are destined to go to a better school than we expect…u never know…so what i am gonna do is…ed-1 to swat…and even if i dont get in…i can always apply to colleges like trincoll, F&m, gettysburg, dickinson for ed2…and we still have EA, RD…what not…so when we already have so many options like ed1/2 EA RD…rolling…why not apply to a gud school for Ed1…anyway…that was my thought!!!cheers!!!

guys!!! just do take care about the fact that some colleges defer international applicants from RD to ED…its their policy…so why waste an opportunity of EDing!!!

oohh a thread exclusively made for the batch 2015 from nepal! i likey!!
hey can anyone tell me which colleges/universities (with good engineering courses) offer EDII to international students?? my SAT II date is on nov 9th or something like that so i cannot apply for ED I…bummer… :frowning:
also, liberal arts and women’s colleges will do . thanks!
