^Yes, you can do that. Meanwhile you can bargain your aid, if it doesn’t cover your needs. If you get into a college in EA, initially the financial aid package might be insignificant but if you convince the admission officer with some strong evidences of your financial need, then they might reconsider your financial aid package and increase the amount of your financial aid. Last year, some of the seniors ended up in colleges that they got in EA.

hey… anybody up for Colgate???

@3333
I will definitely apply there but probably for RD…So count me in.

they’re really hard to get in or so i’ve heard and with my school not offering as much ECAs, it will definitely be harder for me. i just have a good gpa and possibly good reco to back me up. i gave SAT I a year ago and got pathetic score of 1920, getting the high score in the writing section(710) which is mostly diregarded. but then i had like 104 F fever and i will be givin my SAT again . Also there is SAT II. so i don’t know about my chances. anyone want to say anything, please fill free. i don’t want to waste a free score report on an ivy college when i don’t even have the glimmer of hope.
fyi- i’m practising SAT and my CR, Math scores are improving. i’m aiming for 720 on Math and 650 on CR

^^ man…if you “practise” like you have told in the post above,how can you opt for 650???
dont worry…
average score of SAT(world candidates)::: 1550/2400
average score of SAT(americans)::: hardly 1500/2400
and with 1920, you can always get good colleges if not an IVY league college…
One more thing, don’t just be crazy abt IVY league if you are not an all rounder(studies,ECAs,writing,blah blah…)

show the adcom that ur an opportunist rather than a fatalist…if ur school doesnt provide much ecas, that doesnt make u even a bit incompetent. Just show them that u have a diverse vision much more vast than schools horizon…show ur involvement in other things for a change than just tagging along in a school varsity sports team…
abt ivy, the rbs guy that got into cornell last yr had 1900ish, but his overall application was good enough to get him a spot at an ‘ivy-school’

@headache
ECAs do matter but not that important as you might have thought it of being.And ECA doesn’t mean just being in High school basketball’s team or football team or even just being in a Student club and so on.It also means helping the society in any way you could be it in the form of a social service club, volunteering or even tutoring.Just stuffs we do at school aren’t the only ECAs other things do count.And I guess you might have participated in those programs.So,don’t get worried.
For your scores all those getting into Ivies don’t have a perfect 2400 remember that.Scores are something not everything.If you have good academics and essays including recos then you are on the right track.Myan learn to be confident…

Hey, this thread is already very resourceful.3333 i am planning to apply Colgate for Ed 1. Anyone Else? I hope to learn and share a here.

^^ great… colgate is amazing… :D…

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Portfolio and resume? What do they contain? Which one will be best to submit? ani How many pages should it be?

^^^^
As far as I know Portfolio contains those extra talent showcase like in music composing a song or singing it(recording it and sending them to the ad coms) and others whereas Resume almost represents C.V. with some minor changes i guess.It might include your listing of ECAs.
@cheche
welcome…and nice name…

@ confidential2015… i actually am practising, not ‘practising’ but i still have those words to cram up and i have this tendency to make a lot of silly mistakes. then with the POE, i am able to remove like 3 options, i get confused between 2, which gives me a 50-50 chance and i think if i guess, maybe it’ll turn out to be right and then it’s not…never has been…so yeah i do hope i get around 650 but if i get higher , i’d obviously be happier. i like using reverse psychology on myself lol
@ everyone who replied: thanks for the optimism. well i am trying at other colleges too but rite now, there’s a ‘temporary’ guidance counsellor in our school and i don’t know why but she thinks i can get into ivy colleges like cornell…anyhoo, i am applying to trinity and lafayette and i really do hope to get there. i am tutoring and am working as a volunteer too though so yay!!
p.s.- thoughts about wooster anyone?? oh and btw, im a girl

@ prasadian: u’re gonna EA at wooster or cornell? wooster is the top 71st college according to US news…is it underrated? if so, why? any idea?
and i mentioned my gender because people were calling me ‘myan’ which looks like a way of saying ‘man’
