Class of 2015 from Nepal

<p>ooo now the post seems to be rocket fast… and guys dont let this speed decrease… and thanks here i missed that in my list …
@stune
welcome to the community and about that EA thing I am a bit less interested so i might not be that helpful so maybe some1 else but feel free to ask anything regarding your Mission US… LOL</p>

<p>came up with a pathetic essay…maybe writing is not my kind of thing
:(((((</p>

<p>about that application essay thing,</p>

<p>is it necessarily important that our essays be within the restricted word count??,cant we exceed it?? not significantly though,
what if we exceeded the word count,would our application be penalised ???</p>

<p>and thanks for the EA list,</p>

<p>@Saitan
any specific reason for not going EA??</p>

<p>@stunep15
It’s better not to exceed the word limit.Ad coms might not be impressed by that though they wont penalize you for sure. And about the EA thing,if you are very much sire about your choice go for it in ED option but if not there is always the RD option.So EA might not be needed as per my view. And few colleges have that option too.
@Expeliarmus
Same here myan.I ended up twice.And don’t know about the third time.</p>

<p>Hurray mine second century…</p>

<p>its actually better if you remain inside the word limit. there is no direct harm from exceeding the word limit but you need to remember that if your essay gets longer the thing gets complex and complex and you go on losing your grip…thats how you end up in trash(actually your application). An admission officer from Brown clearly told,“we first look at student’s essay. That’s our first impression. Good essay lands in our table and the worst ones along with the complete application packet crash in the trash”. So mind it…essay is really deciding factor. Write small essay with clear view. Your language needs not to be of like you see in books…write in simple language but express yourself confidently and clearly. My suggestion…don’t exceed the limit. Limit means you need to stay inside it…</p>

<p>saitan re…haha we call him chandal…LOL</p>

<p>@stunep15
some colleges that have EA are stanford, MIT and uni of michigan. now that should give some idea of how hard it really is to get in through EA. these type of colleges know that if students get accepted through EA, only few students will not attend the colleges and others definitely will because these colleges are that qualified. and that is also why EA is non-binding. however, there are less super-selective colleges like wooster which give the EA action so applying there won’t hurt. like someone here once said, u can bargain with the college regarding ur financial need or u can still ponder about going there until ur regular decisions come out and if there is a college u RD-ed to and u really want to go there then u can. that’s the beauty of EA. reasons for not going EA i think is because the colleges with ED know that those colleges are our absolute first choice and we are very devoted to those colleges so that could work in our advantage. but that’s of course, only in my opinion</p>

<p>moreover we have been constantly seeing that acceptance rates are higher in ED than that of EA … so i see no reason to go for EA… instead just be prepared for ED
@confidential
thanks for correcting my name
@stune
its chandal and not Saitan… hahaha</p>

<p>can’t I ED in 1 colg n EA in another???</p>

<p>@all
and about that essay thing don’t go beyond the limit…as confidential said limit means stay inside it you ought to do that (if there is a word limit)
if there aint also don’t just go on lengthening your essay… the longer it becomes the boring it becomes… haha… you know when you go on reading long essays you tend to forget what was stated before or sometimes you even forget why that particular line is brought up… so this things must be omitted and hence stay within a very short essay… its really hard but do shorten your essay… i too am doing that right now… my essay is probably 1046 words and still on the way to shorten it… previously it was 1200. see you can really make it short but with techniques not just cut some portion and it shortens thing!!!
@stune
nothing bad but why are you just concentrating on this EA thing?? is it the reason that most of the EA are non-binding? if so then go for RD. almost EA and RD are at the same consideration. Just asking nothing so personal though…
BTW are you a guy or a gal?? so that we can refer to you like cmon man and like that.</p>

<p>of course you can…</p>

<p>@expeliarmus
Yes you certainly can do that because in most of the cases the deadlines of ED and EA are not same. moreover when you tend to do EA the decisions of ED are on its way so its kinda you kno you can do that… and since EA are non binding why to do in 1? do it to many colleges.</p>

<p>(A palindrome numbered post) hahaha</p>

<p>n ya give me some tips on essay dude…i come up with pathetic essays!!!</p>

<p>^^
i too am not so good in writing essays and tipping but i’ll try
Dude see you gotta stand out than other applicant (this doesn’t mean you need to have all those out of the world kinda experience) so you better emphasize on what thing you are good at in such a way that someone finds it interesting to read… most recommended form of the essay is the description of events so that you can relate how that event brought up a person like you are now… or you can also write on anything you wish to but just show you are different than all people out there. I too am not writing about any event but still think its kinda ok.
Don’t take this to be the only tip.
PM me your email and all so that I can send you all the stuffs you need to know about this essay thing.( i haven’t gone through it though)</p>

<p>I’m writing about a character in fiction :p</p>

<p>^u are the best writer over here…thinking skills ko nepal top…this time u’ll surely land somewhere around grinnellish type of college</p>

<p>im thinking on printing the whole thing(even the common apps) n mailing them, what do u think?</p>

<p>its fine…no problem in that…but send them through very good courier service. I read somewhere in a very old thread from nepal, one senior sent application to st. john’s university in NY and the mail carrier sent it to st. john’s in MN(i guess so…j hos to a different st. john’s university) and he suddenly got an email saying u have been selected to st. john’s(not the one where he sent mail to) pay 17k…haha
if u send thru DHL…thats the best option…even the EMS at sundhara does very well…
but thru DHL you can track the progress…</p>

<p>i think there is no other problem in sending the application packet(whole thing) by mail…</p>

<p>thnxs man but i ve also heard of some saying its gonna be quite rash or unclear…anyways im gonna apply by mail
an ets center near my house sends a parcel via DHL /rs800(in 4 days)
u guys know any better courier??</p>

<p>^^
i kno a place in Putalisadak he sends it with 1000 for me but a bit more for others though… I will also contact you for the mailing thing then, i too am going to mail the whole thing.</p>

<p>lau…what rash or unclear ni?? u first fill the form in the commonapp site.then u ask for the preview which is given in pdf form.And u print it…everything is filled up electronically and it wont look bad at all…</p>
