Class of 2015 Official RD Decisions Thread

Here is the format for when decisions do come out. The trick is to take the spaces out of the brackets before you post. If you don't, then the formatting won't work.

Please, follow the directions... too many times people just copy and paste this template instead of removing the spaces.

Pick one:

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2310: 800 Reading, 710 Math, 800 Writing (single sitting, only time I took it)

[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Finalist (Semifinalist on app), not really “major” but national qualifier/gold medalist in an FCCLA STAR competitive event
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): FCCLA (chapter president, district president, state officer), band (1st chair flute), one-act, speech (team captain), letter winner’s club (president), NHS (president), quiz bowl (3-year captain), senior class vice-president, cross-country (letter winner), track (3-year letter winner), four-year stat keeper for basketball team, JETS TEAMS pre-engineering team (captain)

[] Essays: I don’t have anything to compare them to, but I think they were good.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I’ve had them all for 6 years of junior high and high school… but nobody from my school ever applies to top-tier schools… so I’m not sure! They know and love me, though! :relaxed:
[] Counselor Rec: She’s known me since I was in elementary school… she’s awesome! However, she has NEVER in 15+ years of counseling even had someone use the Common Application, so…
[] Additional Rec: Good, I assume. Again, had me for 6 years.
[] Interview: With a senior on-campus. It went decently… we didn’t just “click,” but I don’t think it was bad, either.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes.
[] Intended major?: Double major English/Physics
[] State (if domestic applicant): Nebraska
[] School Type: Absolutely tiny (75?? students in high school) K-12 school in a town of 300. No AP or IB classes offered, never sends kids to top schools.
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: Weird situation… <$0, but own a ranch worth 2.5 million… net operating loss for over 5 years with huge debt, though
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Living on a ranch in Nebraska, test scores despite no AP/Honors/IB classes?
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Test scores, living on a ranch (diversity?), very involved, essays that were very “me”
[] Weaknesses: Little rigor due to lack of options, having administration/teachers unfamiliar with the process, lack of major awards
[] Why you think you were waitlisted: I don’t really have anything to compare my essays, etc. to. Maybe rigor of curriculum due to tiny high school??
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Creighton University Honors Program
[/ul]General Comments: Kinda depressing. WashU was my second choice college, and I visited campus and had an interview, too… This really, really, really makes me nervous for admissions season! :/

Briefly because im in class:
Accepted, College

2220 sat, ~3.9 uw, 4.67 w gpa
2350 sat 2, rank 5/409

Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:[ul]

[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/126

[] Senior Year Course Load: Band, Comp1/Comp2, Business Law, Calculus/College Calc, College Government/CP Econ, Chemistry II
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Just some worthless local ones.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars: Football, Forensics (qualified for state and nationals multiple years), Student Council (currently Sr. class pres.), Scholars’ Bowl, NHS, Band, and a number of others. Those are the main ones, though.
[] Volunteer/Community service: A few hours through the clubs I’m a part of.
[] Essays: Decent, nothing extraordinary.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Pretty good, it was from a teacher I’m really close to.
[] Counselor Rec: I’m assuming decent, although I never read it.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I’ve tried to make the most out of what I’m offered at my HS, I guess, which I tried to show through my ECs and Essays.
[] Weaknesses: Low ACT, lack of any AP or Honors courses at my school, no real awards.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Waitlisted is rejected, from what I’ve read, so I think it boils down to me not really standing out in anything.[/li][/ul]

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I have no idea. I showed no interest and I thought I would be waitlisted for sure.[/li][/ul]General Comments: AJSKLSG I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! This is my first reach school acceptance and my confidence plummeted after my Brown ED defereral CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO GOT IN!!! Also, if you got waitlisted, don’t be discouraged. There are some rumors on here about WUSTL admissions being funky and it’s hard to show interest there since there’s no supp. I ALMOST DIDN’T APPLY HERE BECAUSE I RAN OUT OF TIME TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP AND I THOUGHT THEY WOULD THINK I WAS UNINTERESTED I’M SO HAPPY I DID!!
