I never really showed any interest besides attending the school fair thingy. I didn’t get an interview nor visited the campus. I knew I had a good shot, but wouldn’t be surprised at another decision considering I knew of past year’s results.

[] Counselor Rec: Same as above
[] Additional Rec: None
[] Interview: Yes and it went INCREDIBLY well. I interviewed during last summer and the guy said that he wished he could admit me for the class of 2014. Plus, the guy was the assistant vice-chancellor of admissions (important guy instead of a current student) so maybe that played a part?
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Nope
[] Intended Major: Marketing
[] State (if domestic applicant): Washington
[] School Type: Private
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: My parents keep this from me but I know its high
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: SAT, interview, essays (the autism one made my callous Bostonian counselor cry)
[] Weaknesses: Complete lack of interesting ECs or research
[] Why you think you were accepted: I feel like I was a very competitive applicant with good stats who portrayed herself exceptionally well through her essays.
[/ul]General Comments: I am so excited that I got in (this is the first school that I have heard back from). But if you didn’t get it, don’t beat yourself up. I am guessing that the admit rate will be around 17% this year, putting Wash U on par with popular ivies. I am sure you will get in someplace that you love and will be happy that you went there instead of Wash U.

Also, I see so many people here with amazing stats that got admitted. How many of you guys are actually thinking of going to Wash U?

This is anecdotal, but for my school’s naviance, there is a pretty easily identifiable threshold for GPA/SAT where every applicant to the right of the SAT mark/above the GPA mark is accepted except for 5 applicants in the furthest top right corner, who were all waitlisted. Perhaps it is due to demonstrated interested, but I have a classmate who received a Columbia likely and EA MIT offer and showed considerable interest in WUSTL who was just waitlisted.

Note: No personal bias here, I did not apply to WUSTL.
