word is that WU total apps are way up. anybody hear anything specific?

Sounds like it’s going with the trend everywhere else…

I keep checking their student newspaper (Student Life) to see if the # of apps has been reported and nothing yet. If I recall, ED apps were up. I kind of like Georgetowns approach - not going on the Common App because they already have more than enough qualified applicants to chose from.

http://www.studlife.com/

This indicates that Wash U’s applications are currently at 28,800, up 15.48%. Good luck everyone!

just heard that the final number will be closer to 18 or 19 percent, which is pretty amazing. one of the biggest increases among WU’s category of schools…

We live about a thousand miles away from St. Louis, yet when you look at the list of where everyone was going from my daughter’s small private high school, WashU had the third highest number of students who would be attending this past year. Considering that the other two schools with more matriculants were much closer (one in our actual town), that speaks to the increasing popularity of WashU here, despite the distance. Just five years earlier, there might be just a single student attending per year from this school, or none at all, but now it’s a place where lots of kids apply and attend, with about half aiming for ED.

Does anyone know when Erwin and Rodriguez scholarship finalist notification goes out?

Eww… Last year, WashU ended up with accepting no one from the wait list because apparently much more people decided to attend the school. We actually changed a Sophomore year dorm into a Freshman year’s one. Good luck everyone!!

I wonder when decisions will come out this year?

They state 4/1, but I believe I saw on a CC thread that they were out the first week of March last year. D visited this weekend & now she fears she won’t get in!

They said April 1st ont he website but I too saw that last year they released in early March! That sounds great! I dn’t know what will be the case thisy ear. Why did the campus visit make your D feel she won’t get in?

Last year it was around the middle of March. Good luck to your D boymom and to everyone else applying. My D found out the results online first and then received a letter in the mail.

With us, we didn’t have a chance to visit the school before she got in, due to the distance. But after the visit, she said that she wanted to attend. Not only is the school beautiful, but the students and staff seemed so welcoming. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there.

Drelnis - She really liked the campus, the South 40, and it’s not too far from home. She just doesn’t want to get too excited for fear she won’t get in. Here’s her stats if anyone would like to give me an idea…I feel like the competitive pool has gotten so large, that you just never know!

SAT 2190 (took only once)
ACT 33
GPA 4.1
NMF (we think, no confirmation but no rejection)
Native Amcn
Takes a pretty rigorous courseload - 4 APs this year
Wouls appreciate any feedback :)

To help me pass the time before decisions are out, I need to see more activity on this thread. So here is our story:

S2 applied regular decision to the Olin School of Business. He is interested in the Economics and Strategy major. If he is accepted, the only way he can attend will be able to attend is if he is awarded a Dean’s Scholarship in Business as we will not qualify for any financial aid.

S2 has good EC’s, 3.9 unweighted and 4.038 weighted out of 4.25 GPA and a 36 ACT. But here is the bummer…he is NOT in the top 10% for class rank (12%) and our school insisted on reporting rank. This could knock him out. He is one of the 20 boys/20 girls in our state invited to apply for the White House Presidential Scholars Award so maybe that will help his case. We will just have to wait and see. He has been accepted into the honors program at our flagship school and would be very happy to attend so that reduces the pressure.

Good luck to all the applicants.

Well, I just found out 5 others from our school applied - argh!

4 of 5 Wash U applicants from my high school were accepted.

We have 35 from my school applying…
Then again…I live 20 minutes from WashU
But still…35? ■■■.

Yeah haha, we had 20 apply in our 460 senior class. That’s honestly ridiculous.

o_o

We only have 4 people applying lol.

RaVNs - was that ED this year? Or last?
