DD received her acceptance letter from Centre College today. The yes letter from Western Kentucky University (WKU) Honors College (separate admissions process) came yesterday. Near the end of January, she got accepted by Earlham College. WKU Honors and Earlham have notified us of merit scholarships. We are now waiting until the estimated April 1 notification date for Swarthmore College.

My son is graduating from Tulane this fall - he is also a scholarship kid. Have you visited yet? He loved it, but it’s not for everyone. He hopes to stay there for law school.

Wash U-St. Louis acceptance–
My son has been accepted by WUSTL, but isn’t getting any merit aid other than the $2K or $2500 he should receive for National Merit Finalist. This is a kid with 4.0 GPA, 7 AP 5’s, 800-800-720 SAT, 35 ACT, good leadership activities, though he’s not in a minority ethnic group. He got the turn-down on the engineering scholarships he had applied for in advance of being notified of his acceptance, and we never were told that that’s all there is; just that we didn’t qualify for financial aid, which we expected. I had to call to confirm there’s no other merit aid possibility.

Now, similar to many other parents here, we’re struggling with whether WUSTL is worth it when he can get a free ride at several other schools not as highly ranked. He’s interested in Biomed Eng or Computer Eng and really liked WUSTL.

Final updated: accepted into Syracuse
My college apps are finally done I’m so glad to end it with 10/10. Goodluck with everyone waiting for their final colleges within the next two weeks.

Congrats to all you hard-working students and your amazing parents! This has been a heckuva stressful wait, and it’s wonderful to see it pay off for everyone.

S accepted to Amherst (early write), Wesleyan (early write), Johns Hopkins (Hodson Trust Scholar), Brandeis, Reed, McGill and CU-Boulder. Couple of LACs still out and HYP + Brown. Leaning toward Amherst as their finaid is the best so far.

Stats: SAT 2340 GPA/UW 4.0
Small public HS

D got into Mudd; UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, etc etc. Boyfriend got into UCI (and less attractive alternatives); so, D’s plan is to go to UCI. She did get into honors college. She is sort of between Mudd and UCI. She has a visual impairment, but her math skills rock! UCI seems (by virtue of the website) to have a great disability office (don’t exactly know how Mudd would help, but it’s small). D did go to private school and they figured things out…Yes, secretly want her to go to Mudd…(so hard, everytime we visited, etc. she was so day dreamy about it) will she go? unlikely… do I just let it go? Just forget about it and she’ll click “accept” for UCI and be done… OR …Do we “insist” that she at least attend the college days, do a “sleepover” thing, etc. at both and then if she really still wants to follow BF, let it go? Don’t get me wrong… we have not always agreed; she’s been very proactive about what SHE wants to do all of her life and I’ve always backed her… I can’t believe how I feel about this…so messy … sorry to go on… input? experiences from your past that can help with how things turned out for you?
