Class of 2015 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

Lizman - YES call your son’s recruiter ASAP and let them know about the new scores. Ask if this will make a difference in the award, or help in any other scholarships he may be considered for within the school. Send the scores, but I’d make sure to let the recruiter know they are on their way. Otherwise he doesn’t know to look for the change. You may also want to call the scholarship office to ask how/if a change in merit award is handled. The recruiter may not know all the ins and outs.
My son is receiving merit aid and we were told to make sure to let them know of any increase in score so they could bump up his award.

Lizmane, at a school my D m
Has applied to, she was told last year that, based on her GPA, curriculum rigor, and school profile, she was eligible then-and-there for 11,000K.

Then, they said, based on her ACT and other qualifications (we now know she’s NMSF, ACT 34), she’d be eligible to be invited to Scholarship Day, which is when the top applicants in the pool(by invitation only) compete for the best academic scholarships – up to full tuition. At this school, that involves faculty interviews as well as writing an on-the-spot essay (they’re given a prompt, a computer, and 30 minutes).
So YES he will probably be eligible for more now. Do let them know. Hurray!

thanks for your feedback. Will do as you suggested!!!

D’s first acceptances: SUNY Potsdam and Hiram College! Yay!! It is nice to know she WILL be going to college!

D was accepted last week at Tulane. Received the official letter and scholarship info on Monday. She was so excited that she ripped the envelope and a part of the letter :-)

Congrats arisamp!

Ecstatic! D received her acceptance yesterday for UCF (1st choice & 1st app of 3 turned in).

COngrats to your D knightmom!

congrats knightmom!

D was accepted on Friday to ASU’s Barrett Honors college! It is her first choice and we are all so proud of her! She also got a nice merit scholarship. We are still waiting to hear from a few other schools, but at least she can stop worrying, because her first choice is in the bag!

@holliesue, I wasn’t even aware that the SUNYs gave out early acceptances! Congratulations to your kid :D

elbeeen-Potsdam is rolling admissions, she should hear from NP within the week and from Oneonta after 12/1. I understand Geneseo also has early decision? Not sure about the other SUNYs/

Medtrina-congrats!!!

I see a lot of people are already getting acceptances to Pitt and Drexel. I really need to finish getting my applications and other materials in.

Although I did hear back from Temple today - first acceptance. I’m so happy, this is one of my first choices.

Congratulations sophistry! I have a friend at Temple. He loves it!!
Cheers!

yay…two more acceptances today…Alfred U and Elizabethtown college…my d is actually acknowledging that I was right to have her get her apps in early…she is so much more relaxed than the rest of her friends, many of whom still don’t even know where they want to apply!!!

Holliesue,

I agree with your on that! My D just got an acceptance from Willamette, so now she has two, and like you said, most of her friends are still in application mode. This will make for a very relaxed Holiday season!

kumitedad-congrats!!! It will make for a more relaxed time won’t it???

Yes, early is THE way to go! Son didn’t get accepted at Pitt Main campus and is not really interested in the Satellite one they offered. Fortunately, it was not his number one choice.

we just found out that S2 got Army ROTC scholarship. Depending on which school he chooses where he can use the scholarship, the cash value is anywhere between $190K and $240K - all tax free (grossed up for tax would have been close to up to $400K). We are pretty excited.
