~Class of 2015 SEAS Theoretical ED Acceptance Rate~

Okay, so I've done some number crunching, and here's the conclusion I made:

Total ED applications received: 4557

I saw on another ED thread that approximately 8/75 people applied to SEAS. Assume that this is an accurate ratio, then

Total ED SEAS applicants = 486
Total SEAS Size = 410
ED accepts approximately 50%, so
Total SEAS ED Accepted = 205

ED Acceptance rate = 205/486 = 42%
GOOD NEWS!!! Almost the same as last year's!!!

This is PURELY theoretical, correct me if I'm wrong please :)

Dude you’ll get in regardless of the theoretical admit rate. Just chill

^ thx, im just doing this to inform the others. im sure u’ll get in too :)

Another approach, albeit also theoretical, but perhaps a bit more scientific:

For the Class of 2014, 14.3% of all applicants (3,851/26,939) applied ED:

[Penn Admissions: Incoming Class Profile](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/profile/)

If we assume the same ratio for SEAS apps, then there were 685 ED apps for SEAS (14.3% of 4,791 total SEAS applicants):

[Penn Engineering - Fast Facts](<a href=“Marketing and Communications |”>About)

Assuming that half of the SEAS class was accepted ED, the SEAS ED accpetance rate was 29.9% (205/685).

Given that the overall SEAS acceptance rate for the Class of 2014 (16.9%) was fairly close to the overall Penn acceptance rate (14.3%), I’d guess that 30% was closer than 42% to the SEAS ED acceptance rate for the Class of 2014. And of course, for the Class of 2015, there are 18% more ED applicants.

Again, this is all theoretical, but there it is. :)

^
thank you, this makes more sense than mine :>

for 2014, seas overall admission rate is 13.3% You can get it at Columbia Spectator
