**Class of 2015 University of Chicago Admissions Decisions Discussion**

Please use this thread for discussion on this year’s admissions decisions.

You made this thread about thirteen days too early.

I know. I just felt like it. Last year’s was posted around the same time.

It’s fine if it’s early. Just try to get the mods to sticky and lock the other one you made.

I did. I am waiting now. The other one is different though.

Really nervous about decisions…hopefully everything goes well.

Holy crap! my friend got a likely letter

The chat for those who applied EA to the University of Chicago

Chicago sends likely letters?

I’ve asked around; Uchicago doesn’t, I don’t think.

Chicago does send likely letters. It apparently started last year with the new Dean of Admissions Nondorf. No one knows how much they send each year, though.

what exactly does like’y letters say? Is it bad if you don’t get one? If you do get one, is your acceptance almost guaranteed?

If you get one, you’re basically guaranteed acceptance. I don’t think they send very many out at all, though. So if you don’t get one, you’re basically in the same pool as everyone else, and there’s no need to worry even in the slightest. I imagine they only send them to the extremely qualified applicants who will probably get in everywhere they apply (Harvard, et al.), so that Chicago can start tempting them early. Those students and the athletes they really want.

Does Chicago reject any applicants EA? Or only accept and defer? I scanned some of the recent EA decisions thread and couldn’t find any (legitimate) rejections. I went to one of the summer information days, and thought I heard some speaker (assistant dean of admissions?) say that Chicago doesn’t reject EA applicants, but now I don’t remember, and I REALLY don’t want to find out when I view my decision haha. Thanks for any info!

Nah dude, they reject EA.

I REALLY hope I get in.

I just realized a typo in my “Why Chicago” essay… ■■■

Yeah, the guy who got the likely letter was a two time MOSPer, so I expect him to get in.

@Amberstars: don’t worry about it. One typo doesn’t hurt, although if there are many they do hurt.
I hope decisions come out on 15th or earlier, but they have like 40% more applications or something this year, so I think decisions will be close to the 20th (although I hope not).

Will we be emailed or will the decisions be on the UChicago Application Status page?
