Hi everyone…My daughter was accepted in mid-December, and she will be attending! She visited the campus twice last fall. She loved it, we (her parents) loved it…we’re all very exclited. Good luck to the Class of 2015! :)

Accepted with $20,000 per year scholarship for history Major. Going to see the school for the first time tomorrow.

Has anyone been to the Royal Nights program?
What was it like? I am going next weekend.

I haven’t been yet, LN1281, but I’m going up tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it is when I get back :)

Thanks fruiti I look forward to the report

Hey! So, Royal Nights was pretty great. Of course, it snowed in Scranton last night, and those five inches resulted in a “compressed schedule” today. Basically, you got to sleep in a bit and all of your classes were shorter. Which any teenager really doesn’t mind ;D

On Sunday we sat by group in a nice ballroom and got catered food for dinner. These groups were of maybe six visitors, and they were grouped by major. There was a “student panel” after dinner which answered some questions submitted by tables. I didn’t find it as helpful as just talking to my host about things, but it was a nice thought. We went to the movies after on buses based on the time of your showing. (By the way, I highly recommend The Kings’ Speech. It was excellent.) You don’t have to go by group or anything, it’s really about whatever movie you want to see. When we returned, we were able to get snacks or go to Starbucks. I grabbed something and returned to the dorm, because the snow was falling pretty quickly by that time. Hung out there for the rest of the night, and of course we got to sleep in this morning. My classes were pretty good as an undecided Arts and Sciences major. I was lucky enough to sit in on Fr Ron McKinny’s philosophy class. I’d heard he was pretty good, and I wasn’t disappointed. I also got persuasion and propaganda, travel writing, and ABCs of genetics. What classes you’ll see really will depend on your major. Random, but I heard that they had 175 students this week and they’re having 190 next week, so be prepared to see a lot of people.

It was a great experience for me, but your experience will really depend on your group, host, and classes. Everyone I met was pretty nice. Not sure yet if I’ll go to Scranton, but I definitely left with a favorable impression of the school. I kinda did a general summary, but if there’s anything in particular you want to know about, just let me know. I hope you had as much fun as I did!

**King’s. Make that “The King’s Speech.” Apologies. I wasn’t too awake when I wrote that haha.

Fr. Ron is one of the best :).
