I know there is a thread for admitted students but I am curious as to who has decided they will actually be attending UGA. My D has pretty much made her decision and barring any unforseen situation, she will be enrolling this fall.

Not sure yet. Have been admitted to several good schools (UNC, etc.) that have offered scholarships. UGA has not offered anything, and since I am OOS, that will keep me away. Planned Business major.

Tiger - As a Texan, what led you to apply at UGA?

My extended family is from the southeast (SEC!!) Good business school, nice campus, fun college town, football team has potential. Have applied to several schools (Auburn, UA, Ga Tech, UGA, UNC, etc.) Accepted at all plus a couple further north. Have been lucky with scholarships everywhere except UGA. OOS tuition is too high without scholarships, but still waiting to hear since UGA continues to roll out scholarships for awhile.

Since we live only 50 miles from UGA, my D applied just as an emergency backup. She did EA, was accepted, auto-admitted to Honors, but won’t be going… Nothing against UGA… she wanted to go a little farther away from home and she didn’t like the campus/atmosphere as much as others for her own reasons.

Boatfoot, would you be willing to share your D’s SAT and GPA as an Honors auto-admit?

They probably went more by her ACT.

ACT 34, SAT 2120, GPA 3.975 UW. She was dual enrolled at college with no AP’s thus she really doesn’t have a comparable weighted GPA, UGA took some freshman, sophomore gifted stuff and gave her a core GPA weight of 4.07… they must have somehow looked at the college stuff and factored it.

Boatfoot - How did you get the GPA that UGA calculated? Did you calc yourself or is it posted on line somewhere? Just wondered what they calc’d for me since my stats match your D’s except 35 on ACT.

Tiger–have you already received scholarship offers from all your colleges? Even UNC?

I have been really lucky!! Either money offers already(Presidential or other Scholarships), OOS waivers, or finalist/invitation to scholarship interviews where most people invited get at least something. I know some could be a couple thousand $$ a year but could be much more. I think I have written a thousand essays!! I have been accepted at only one school that literally offers no merit money. I can understand why state schools offer most of their money to their own students, too. I was just curious that UGA didn’t offer anything, but I’m OK with that.

So Tiger–Did you get into UGA Honors? With your stats, I would be incredulous if you weren’t auto-accepted. Perhaps the only reason you would not be auto-accepted is the fact that you’re OOS.

I did not get an auto-admit to UGA. I was disappointed, but I think they may give preference to Ga students. That’s only fair. Just curious since I saw a lot of others post stats that made me seem competitive. There are a lot of things that stats don’t tell you, so you can’t just go by that info.
