Hey is anyone definitely going to UArts for MT in the fall? Post your acceptances here! :)

I just got my acceptance!!! But I am still waiting to hear from 11 other schools, so we’ll see…

Congratulations!! :)

Our D just got accepted today into the UARTS AT program! With a generous scholarship! She also got accepted at Marymount-Manhattan, and is now waiting to hear from Ithaca, Emerson, BU, the Hartt School, and AMDA. But it sure is a huge relief to know that she got accepted into at least two programs. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations to racroce too! Yay! :)

Congratulations to all who have been accepted. If you have any questions about UArts or about college life in Philadelphia, feel free to ask (my daughter is a senior in MT and my office is a block and a half from the school).

Thanks MichaelNKat. We’re shifting from audtion mode to waiting mode. Our D auditioned for 10 schools. So far, she’s had two acceptances and two rejections. We’re looiking to plan a UArts visit soon. We’ve seen a lot so far on UArts MT program, but do you or anyone else in this forum know any details on the AT program?

What does “AT” stand for?

AT = Actor Training. As opposed to MT, which musical theatre.

The Acting program is Meisner based although other acting disciplines are also taught after sophomore year. Sophomore year, the core acting studios are entirely Meisner. MT and Acting students take the core acting studio classes together and branch off in other areas.

After an introduction to Stage Combat, students can take advanced classes leading to certification in Stage Combat. Acting for Film and Camera is also part of the curriculum, taught by a professor with many long running TV programs and films to his credits as director and casting director. Acting students can also minor in MT and audition for all the musicals.

Philadelphia has a very active and dynamic professional theater scene. Acting and MT students benefit from instructors who are active working actors and directors.

If you have any particular questions, feel free to ask.

Does anyone know how many they are aiming for, for the incoming class in the fall? I heard that the current Freshman class is very large, because so many came that were accepted, and that they are aiming for a smaller class. I am not sure how true this is though, I also heard that the current Senior class is very small, as well.

and CONGRATS to all accepted so far!!! :)

This year’s senior class is at 22. Started at 26 and there has been some normal attrition. This year’s freshman class is at 38. The school’s yield model was blown apart! Acceptances for next year’s freshman class will be lower as a result. See this thread for a more detailed discussion of class size and these recent developments:

Called to check because the email was vague - it’s a yes! D got in! Very excited - don’t know if this is where she’ll end up, but it’s very good to have a yes.

How did everyone find out about their admittance?

Sounds great! Thanks for the info. We’re looking forward to our visit to UArts!

How did everyone find out about their admittance?
Will we all receive letters in the mail, etc. if accepted?

I received an acceptance letter in the mail. You can also check on the website and have an email sent to you with the status of your application. I just had mine sent to me, even though I already received the letter, and it says “Application Status: Accept-norequirmnt”. So, I believe the letter is the more official notification of your acceptance, but the application status may help as well.

Hope that helps!! :)

Thanks!! :D

I haven’t received a letter yet but when I checked my status it also said accept- norequirmnt. Yesterday I also received an email telling me about an event for accepted students. I’m sure a letter is coming soon but I’m just curious what I should take it to mean.
