Class Of 2015

Thanks for the clarification. So I think I understand you as saying that those who applied to MT and said “YES” on their form for ACTING and who have seen their online major change to ACTING have indeed been accepted into ACTING but rejected from MT.

I have heard nothing but good things about Ithaca’s Acting program and that it is quite strong.

I honestly don’t know anything about the online status and how it works at Ithaca and don’t want to guarantee anything about that but only shared about the admissions stuff, not the online tech aspect.

That said, if some status thing says “admitted, Acting,” well, it would seem one is truly admitted for acting! :)

PS, when my daughter was admitted to Ithaca for a BFA in MT, she was not willing to be considered for Acting. The notification was not online. She received a snail mail letter (thin envelope) around Feb. 12, two weeks after her audition and that was the only way we knew she was accepted. I remember this pretty vividly, even though it was six years ago ( ) because we were in NYC for her NYU/Tisch audition and my husband was back home. My daughter wanted to stay with friends one extra day in NYC and I left after the NYU audition and was on a train to upstate NYC where I had left my car to then drive back to Vermont. While on the train, my daughter called and told me that Daddy called her in NYC that an envelope from Ithaca had arrived and told her on the phone she was accepted. It was the first acceptance and so it was a big relief.

We know a girl who was accepted to Ithaca MT yesterday. Have no idea how she was notified or when she auditioned.

Love all of your stories and posts soozievt . . . thank you for the personal tales and great information and support. It’s great to be a part of a community that you’re involved with. :0)

^^Ah, thanks…but here’s the deal…when your kids are done with this college admissions stuff and in college, stay on with the MT Forum and share anecdotes for those who come after. I know when my kid applied, it helped to read posts by those who had been through it and were in college (or their kids were).

Status changed today. Not feeling very confident about this one. :/

@soozievt . . . definitely will help when my D is safely and happily ensconced in a program! I’ll have time. sigh It’ll be just me and the dog. haha!

My son’s audition status just moved from “what we need” to “what we have received” today. I spoke with the admissions office and she said they just received his information from the MT program today and it could be up to a week before they have gone through all his stuff and send out an answer…this probably isn’t helpful to anyone but I thought I would post it since we are all still waiting together~!

my son had his audition moved from from " what we need" to " what we have received " today as well.

My son auditioned for MT but indicated he would be interested in being considered for Acting if not accepted in MT. His audition form moved to “received” yesterday but his major changed from MT to Acting. He called and they said it meant he has been accepted into the acting program.

To people who have had a status change:

When and where did you audition? Still no change for me…

Also, does Ithaca notify you of academic AND theatre acceptance in one mailing?

Status changed this morning. Auditioned @ Chicago Unifieds [Feb. 7th].

Still no change for me! I’m glad about it - at least it means I haven’t been rejected yet. I auditioned on the first day of LA Unifieds.

Where is there a status change?

On the app checklist section of myithaca

Did those who auditioned in Chicago status change today? Or from other audition dates?

How long does Ithaca usually take to get out their yes no and maybes?
I auditioned in early february and haven’t heard anything

Son’s status changed this morning, he auditioned in Chicago on Feb. 7. He called admissions and he got the impression that the theatre dept. has made a decision, and now another group from admissions will decide on general admission… The woman from admissions said she can’t be sure when a decision will be made, but once one is, a letter will be sent out. She also said they will post the decision on MyIthaca, but that usually happens a few days after the letter is sent.
