stressedhskid: my son auditioned for MT in Ithaca Dec. 4. Yesterday his status switched to audition received but major changed from MT to Acting. He called today and they told him it meant he had been accepted in Acting.

Who did he call, the admissions department or the theater department?

SDactor: He called Ithaca Admissions.

SDactor: my son also said ithaca admissions said the letters were mailed out Thursday.

Did you mean the admissions department sent out the Acting acceptance letters? When I spoke to the Admissions dept on Wednesday (the day my son’s audition moved from “needed” to “received”) they told us that they had just finally received all the information from the theatre department and it would be a week before they had everything together. I know for accepted students when they send the acceptance it will come with your “scholarship/financial aid” package which they have to hand calculate for each individual student. But, maybe they are done with the Acting students and the MTs will patiently keep waiting!

musictheatre: since my son was moved from MT to Acting I assume they meant Acting was sent out. At least they told him HIS package was sent out last Thursday.

My D’s friend, who applied for Theatre Arts Management in the Drama program, received an email this morning to go check her status online (which, resulted in learning she was accepted). Wish all the programs provided notification the same way…a lot less guessing and overanalyzing…

My status still hasn’t changed. lol Anyone else in the same not-received section as I am? And has anyone from LA unifieds been rejected yet?

My status still hasn’t changed. I auditioned the last day of LA Unifieds.

My D also auditioned in L.A. No change in status; although she said Ithaca was not one of her better auditions.

Pemestau: That’s interesting to learn and it just proves how difficult it is to analyze these postings. Others have communicated that the Admission office communicated that it would take at least a week from when it switches to received as at that point they need to the academic assessment and financial aid package. Also, being that folks reported status switch last week with no correspondence from Ithaca yet, I’m curious if a large number of letters went out on Thursday; I guess Monday/Tuesday should be telling!

I wonder how Ithaca is handling these kind of things. It’s weird how people from their last audition date have heard but people from earlier dates still have nothing.

You may wish to read my post #14 on this thread. Ithaca’s notification process is more confusing than some other programs. They admit/deny some on a rolling basis and notify others at the very end of the admissions season. Most other schools do one or the other method but this school appears to do some of each.

But to my knowledge no one has received an MT decision from Ithaca as of yet. Have they?

Yes, I have gotten an MT rejection from NYC Unifieds.

No one has been accepted yet, though. Or at least, not that I’m aware of.

thiisismegan- when did you get your letter?

A friend of my D’s was accepted yesterday. It sounds like the process has begun and will last a while!

I meant ACCEPTANCE decision. I knew they had been rejecting.

Your friend’s D Acceptance, was it MT and do you know if it was by phone, email or letter yesterday?
