My school and his school are in 2 opposte directions.

i also wrote about how the envioronment i grew up in has shaped me to be a strong perservering leader and how people see me as a leader not because of my large frame ( i am 6’4) but because of the attidude i have when i am in the room.

how my parents accident coupled with my volunteering at the hospital has changed my outlook on life and how i found my true calling which is medicine because God has blessed me with intelligence and lots of empathy towards the needy and weak.

i also included in my essay a great quote from one of a famous surgeon (i am drawing a blank on his name right now) but it said " i was never the smartest in med school, but what i lacked in ability i made up with through discipline." i think this quote really applies to me and i explained why.

I heard that UC’s arent counting subject test scores after this year so you might want to check on that…my scores were definitely not any higher then yours, and over all you look like a better applicant then i was but i got in automatically through ELC, so i think you will probably get in. good luck :)

Quote: “i am male and i know it is a advantage, a small one but an advantage non the less”
LOL XD
i searched up the stats and ucd (on collegeboard) is 58% female and 42% male…
i’m pretty sure you aren’t given an advantage just because you’re male though. XD

Your SAT II aren’t high, but you have time to bring them up. lots of people get 800 on math ii sat, so i’d try and get it at least 750. history sat ii is a lot harder to get 800 i’ve heard. You want your stats to be good because C’s on transcripts do not look very nice… admissions this year are getting a lot harder. i know a lot of people with really good grades/sat/etc who were rejected from ucd this year.

Frankly grades and test scores matter the most. Your ACT looks good, your SAT II’s can pass (though can be improved), but your GPA needs to be worked on. Grades are extremely important…academic qualifications are first and foremost. Essays and ECs only count so much for public schools (especially because UC Davis uses a point system vs. holistic approach). I would consider them to be influential, but not prime, criteria.

I think you have a good chance. I would try to bump up the test scores just a little bit only because UC Davis is not the most forgiving school when it comes to special circumstances. Your GPA is a little low but that’s understandable. If you get your SAT IIs to 700 or higher and the ACT to 33 or higher I would say 75-80%

I actually got 590 on the Math II SAT subject test. Literature: 630. My SAT I was 2060, which was probably the best number on my app. My GPA wasn’t stellar either, it was ~3.74. But I think my personal statements made up for my numerical weaknesses.

JMK7: congrats that is great and all but i have a 3.6 and 31 act(2100 according to uc scale) wheras you have a higher gpa, but 40 points lower on the SAT. as well as i have 2 650’s. how do my chances look?
