According to today's StudLife, 28,826 people applied for admission this year and 4,440 were accepted for an acceptance rate of 25.4%.

Typo? Acceptance rate was 15.4%

Yes, phone typo.

Isn’t this the exact same % as for the class of 2015? I remember last year’s rate was 15.4% as well.

Yes, it is and the numbers are nearly identical too. 2011 admitted 4435 with 28800 applications. I wish they release their stats on ED admits numbers.

[Acceptance rate at 15.4% for class of 2016 | Student Life](Acceptance rate at 15.4% for class of 2016 - Student Life)

Any idea what percentage of the freshman class is admitted ED?

I read on an old thread that ~400 students out of the ~1500 student classes were ED admits

The linked article states 30% of the incoming class is accepted early decision which would be approx 450 students.
[Admissions sticks with early decision | Student Life](Admissions sticks with early decision - Student Life)

and…the linked article is from 2010…

Still does not tell how many apply ED…

and, as usual, Wash U does not release CDS…

At an information session, an admissions officer said the ED acceptance rate has varied between 20% and 40% for the past few years. Each year the rate depends on the strength of the ED applicant pool.

I asked one of the admissions officers about this rate today (as I’m a tour guide) and she said she has no idea where Student Life got those numbers as they haven’t released them yet…so something to keep in mind.

The following was in a “Student Life” article sent to parents (and others) on March 29, 2012:

Acceptance rate at 15.4% for class of 2016

High-school seniors who applied to Washington University received their admissions decisions earlier this month, and nearly 85 percent who applied were disappointed.
Continuing the selective trend from last year, the acceptance rate for the incoming fall freshman class remains under 20 percent. There were 28,826 applicants and 4,440 accepted, making the admissions rate 15.4 percent.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will not have the official matriculation statistics for the 2016 incoming freshman class until the summer and would not disclose the number of students waitlisted.

Again, I just reiterate that the admissions officer I talked to said they hadn’t released statistics yet, but that the dean of admissions had talked with Student Life (so (s)he may have told them the correct admitted %). Take it as you will, but that (15.4%) does look right.

Well, maybe the ED percentage is exactly the same as it was in 2010. Just a guess
