Class of 2016 Chances

I made a post about this awhile ago, but I wanted to give a more updated look.
Grades and rank: 96 uw, 105 w, and ranked 8/404 as of Sopomore year. Junior Year- 98 uw, 108 w, rank either went up or stayed the same. The classes are all honors and AP, including scores: APUSH(5), AP Euro(5), AP World(4), AP Lit(3), AP Bio(3).

Senior Schedule- Includes all honors and 3 AP's(Macro, Lang, and Calc AB)

Test Score: ACT-26( I'm going to retake, I know it's not top notch )

Extra Curriculars, Volunteer, and Awards: JV Baseball two years, one year on varsity(hopefully two), symphonic orchestra since 4th grade(first chair viola), treasurer of Symphonic Orchestra, former Vice President of Intel Science Club and created a project for Long Island's competition, NHS member(going to run for officer), Foreign Language Honor Society, School Tour Guide, over 100 hours of Volunteer Service(with various groups), and helped create a book for Armed Service members that gets circulated to veterans and current soldiers. I have won 3 awards at my school for excellence in English, Italian, and Pre Calculus.

I plan on majoring in something like Poli Sci, History, or International Relations/Politics/Studies. I'm in state and my godmother attended the school if that helps at all. So what are my chances?

You’re absolutely in as long as you boost your ACT score or take the SAT. I’d highly recommend taking both again, you never know which you’re better at. Get that to a good level and you should have no problem. Just be sure to write a good essay and get strong recommendations.

I’m majoring in Poli Sci too, with a minor of History. Good luck on your app!

Thank you! I’ve been doing practice ACT stuff and getting around 28-30. And are you at Binghamton now? If so how are the poli sci and history programs?

No I’m applying for Class of 2016 same as you. But from what I hear the departments are excellent, I’m really looking forward to it.

And yeah, just to be safe I’d say anything 29+ is your best bet.

Yeah I’m hoping for a nice test score. Are you applying EA?

Yeah, I’ve already got my common app completed, just waiting for the supplements to be posted online. I think we get decisions back around Christmas time.

Sounds good. I’ll probably start the supplement as soon as I can. Good luck to the both of us!

I’ve been waiting forever for the supplement to get posted.

It’s aggravating me so much because almost all my other apps posted their supplements.

Haha I know what you mean, I’ve had my common app filled out since August 1st. Soooo impatient.

hahaha same!

what other SUNYs are you applying to?

Actually none. Bing is the only school I’m applying to at all. I was seriously considering Dartmouth, because everyone told me I would have a good shot. But I probably won’t apply there, I’ve grown too connected to Bing already. And Bing and Dartmouth are the only good schools with an Arabic major haha.
If I don’t get in to Bing, I guess I’ll apply to Ohio State or something but I really really hope that doesn’t happen.

I’m so anxious for the whole process I’m also applying to Penn St, Boston University, Syracuse, Umass and UConn

Yeah see I started worrying about colleges like my sophomore year, and I’ve had all junior year to be completely freaked out. Now that everything is done except hitting the “apply” button, I’m completely calm. It’s sort of weird actually.

Haha that is strange. I’ve been worried since like Sophomore year too. And especially junior year right before rankings came out.

haha well, I for one, am completely freaked out.

I’m applying to 8 colleges (all SUNYs)

and I have this crazy feeling i’m going to be completely rejected from all of them (even though I’m well above their stats)

omg

Don’t worry you’ll be fine. I’m the one who has to worry about my awful test score.

lol I have the same exact score!

Haha good I’m not the only one! Like I think I’ll improve, but at least on Bing’s site they say the mid 50 is 26-30 and my gpa is above the mid 50 range so hopefully that compensates.

haha yeah same! :)

I’m just really nervous.

I visited the campus on Saturday and it was just so beautiful and very big and the surrounding town is really nice

Haha if I said I wasn’t nervous I would be lying. I plan on going up to visit it around the same time I go up to Syracuse. Bing would be such a good fallback option b/c the in state tuition.
