[]SAT: 2340
[]SATIIs: 800 M2, 800 USH, 800 Bio E
[]ACT:
[]GPA: 4.0 UW
[]Rank: N/A
[]Competitions/Prizes: Nothing really individually.
[li]Otherstats: Worked as a contractor at NASA Ames doing research using satellites and some programming. FIRST Robotics co-prez, co-EIC of yearbook. Football, club soccer. 5s on AP Calc BC, APUSH, AP Bio. 3 on AP French.
[/li]

[/ul]
Subjective:[ul]
[]Essays: I don’t like this part of this list. I say they’re good, but maybe someone doesn’t. Basically, I wrote an essay that was capable of gaining me admission. Write the best possible essay. I liked mine.
[]Supplement: I liked this one too. Oh, I think I shot a dig at MIT after I reread it, but I applied there too. Doesn’t matter anymore!
[]TeacherRecs: Never saw them
[]CounselorRec: Never saw it. My Assistant principal wrote it and he liked me because I was in football. Nothing more I can say.
[li]Hook(ifany): Varsity football player + NASA contractor. I think that was the biggest thing. But again, this is subjective. I have no idea what is good or what is bad on my app.[/li][/ul]

Location/Person:[ul]
[]StateorCountry: CA in the US of A
[]SchoolType: Public
[]Ethnicity: North African
[]Gender: M
[li]Application(ED/RD?): ED
[/li]

[/ul]OtherFactors: I really think I was a well-rounded applicant. I did stuff I liked and only stuff I liked. Luckily I was interested in technological fields, but I also liked to meddle in writing (yearbook). Sports too.

Advice/Reflection: DO WHAT YOU LOVE! PLEASE! DO NOTHING FOR THE SAKE OF A SCHOOL! I thought the precollege thing was vital, but it turns out its just another factor in the application. Over the past month I’ve reevaluated myself and realized I did NHS and CSF for the sake of college. Thus, I didn’t put those on my app. Good luck to all of you guys for next year.

GeneralComments: I’m proud to be a tartan. I’m seriously so grateful right now.

[]Supplement: Very fun! Really got to be creative with the essays.
[]TeacherRecs: Did not see them, but I definitely have to thank them!
[]CounselorRec: Did not see them. Still, I’m sure she wrote an amazing one.

SchoolType: Public
Ethnicity: Asian

Application(ED/RD?): ED I
OtherFactors: Well I was at one of the top high schools in the country, and the cmu speaker told us that our school was one of their largest feeder schools. So I was given the benefit of the doubt.

Advice/Reflection: My grades sucked. Honestly like the Admissions counsel must have been drunk when they accepted me. I had no outstanding qualities. I would just have to say to anyone else who is planning to apply, just make sure your essay is beast. Nothing is impossible.
GeneralComments: Did not expect an acceptance with my grades.

**Decision: Accepted to CIT **

Advice/Reflection:
General Comments:

Congrats everyone

Just curious why none of you started the FB CMU 2016 page yet?

CMU doesn’t do it for you-- some student always starts these and upperclassmen will join you from admissions to be co-admins.

Then there are break out groups for each school – also formed by students.

[Log In | Facebook](<a href=“Carnegie Mellon Class of 2016!! | Facebook”>Carnegie Mellon Class of 2016!! | Facebook)

here’s the facebook page C:

And about a week or two after you pay your deposit you’ll get a CMU email address (or if you were pre-college - it’s reactivated).
You can then join the FB CMU network.

Pay your deposit by the due date so nothing goes wrong. (this happens every year-- someone overlooks this and the flood of posts begins)

What fb cmu network? :o

Decision: Accepted to CIT

Stats:[ul]
[]SAT: 570 R, 660 M, 580 W
[]SATIIs: 620 Math II, 680 Bio-M
[]ACT: n/a
[]GPA: 3.6 uw
[]Rank: n/a
[]Competitions/Prizes:
[li]Other stats: Associates Degree from Bard College. EC: Academy Soccer, YouthBridge-NY (leadership program), Intern at DonorsChoose.org and Global Nomads Group (programing and video editing), Raised $5,000 for Make-A-Wish foundation, Ranked #1 international Pokemon player (lol), Peer mentoring, and Founded soccer club.[/li][/ul]

Subjective:[ul]
[]Essays: Common App: Wrote about how I raised $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation through Pokemon. Worked almost a year on the essay to perfect it. Had over 30 people look at it and they loved it. I was extremely ecstatic about sending it to colleges.
[]Supplement: Probably better than my common app essay. Wrote about why cmu (called it the epitome of versatility), why cit, what I plan to do at cmu, and why I want to be an engineer.
[]Teacher Recs:
1.Classes:Chinese Lit. & Film (11), English (10), Seminar (11).
We talk almost everyday, even play soccer after school, and according to another teacher this was the most beautiful recommendation letter.
2.Classes: Subcellular Biochemistry (11)
The principle of my school and the teacher of one of the hardest class in my entire school. She told me that her rec letter was phenomenal and spoke about how all the wonderful things I’ve done for my school, which is fairly new.
[]Counselor Rec: AMAZING! Did not see it, but she told me that she had so much fun writing it. We talk everyday so our relationship is really close.
[li]Hook(if any): Hispanic Minority. Had an amazing interview with someone from the admission committee (This definitely helped a lot). Half first generation? 3.6 gpa with only college courses as a 16 year old. Lots of intrest. [/li][/ul]

Location/Person:[ul]
[]State or Country: New York
[]School Type: High School Early College (one of the most competitive public schools in NYC)
[]Ethnicity: Mexican/Ecuadorian
[]Gender: Male
[li]Application(ED/RD?): ED I
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors: Amazing upward trend and took extra classes. Probably one of the most rigorous schedule possible.

Advice/Reflection: As you can see, my grades and exam scores are not the greatest, but I worked really hard and put all I could into my application. It really is a holistic process so use your stellar qualities to your advantage.

General Comments: This is my dream come true! Cannot wait to start my cmu journey.

**Decision: Accepted Tepper School of Business **

[] Volunteering: Over 200 hours
[] Essays: Pretty decent, all my friends/parents/relatives liked it
[] CMU Supplement: Easily and well written b/c I went to Pre-College
[] Teacher Recs: The two teachers like me a lot, assuming pretty decent
[] Counselor Rec: Mediocre at best, I had 3 different counselors for my 4 years in HS
[] Hook (if any): Nerp
[/ul]
Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New Jersey
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian (Chinese)
[] Gender: Male!
[] Application (ED/RD?): Early Decision

[/ul]
Other Factors:
Also went to summer camps at Brown University for Alternative Engineering, Penn State for Stock Market Madness, Georgetown University for Leadership and Ethics, and of course, Carnegie Mellon Pre-College (And I got 2 A’s there, in statistics and programming courses)

Advice/Reflection:
I’ll be honest and genuine here for future applicants. Guess how many times I took the SAT? 4 times. And if you are reading this, I’m assuming you’ve heard the myth that you can only take the SAT a maximum of 3 times. Nope. I took it 4 times, 1920, 1960, 2060, 2210. All single sittings.
And another myth about bad AP scores. I took AP U.S. History, Econ Macro and Micro during my junior year. I got a 3, 4, and 4, respectively. Yep, a 3 on an AP exam… oh no!!
I sent all my scores in, and it did not make an impact, if even.

Oh, and make sure to challenge yourself in high school! But if the challenge seems unrealistic( getting C’s ), then take it down a notch, and do well in other courses.

General Comments:
Extremely relaxed and relieved. I can chill out senior year now, because I know I’m attending an excellent university. And who ever thinks CMU is not as “good” as other schools or isn’t “prestigious” enough… haters gonna hate.

And congrats to others who were accepted! If you were rejected/deferred, do not fret. There is a college for everyone out there. Where ever you go, you will be happy, make great friends, and have a fantastic future–if you work hard, no matter where you go, you have to work hard =]

You can take SAT as many times as you want. Colleges will typically NOT superscore if you take more than three. AP scores are generally not used for admission purposes so a low score there most likely wouldn’t hurt your chances.

Im a theater person … enough said about academics …

Congratulations, Alexgrace. For you other ED’s, Alexgrace got selected subjectively.
Hope to see you on stage, screen, and streaming. :)

Thank you very much! I hope to meet others on here who were accepted in to the ED1 CFA program soon!
