<p>Obviously you’re right about not being great at math, since those SAT subscores add up to 2300, and you said you got a 2280. Sorry, I had to take that jab at you since it just seemed so appropriate after you said the thing about being bad at math; please don’t hate me for it! Anyway, congrats on getting into CMU; it seems like you’re a really deserving applicant. (Oh, and I would not consider Asian to be a URM at CMU. Female, definitely. Asian, no.)</p>

<p>CMU is actually one of the top schools in the country for statistics and information systems. Your parents may be devastated that you didn’t get into Harvard/MIT, but I’m sure that, for your chosen majors in particular, you’ll get comparable quality undergraduate training at CMU. And you can still apply to Harvard/MIT for graduate school, which is perfectly doable if you get good grades at CMU and get yourself involved in research while still an undergrad.</p>
