@awildrose so we can call them and they’ll say if were accepted or they’re going to call us?

I’m new to this thread and I’m freaking out a little. Has Georgetown contacted you in any way since you sent in your application? I’m worried because I haven’t heard anything since my confirmation email. Also, someone mentioned that we could start getting our letters as early as next Tuesday. Is that true?
Thanks!

Hi everyone I’m knew to the thread too and I am getting really anxious too. I’ve been counting down the days even before my interview!I agree with all of you who say they have that “It’s going to be so great when I get in there!” to the “You just have to face the facts and you’re not going to get in :” feelings.
Georgetown is my first choice! I applied EA to GU’s NHS for International Health. I really think I did a good job on my essays and my grades are fine but, I know how much the standardized tests scores matter and I think that may be my downturn. Any words of advice to keep stress down would be appreciated!
Cheers and good luck too all!
Hope to see you at the Hilltop next fall!
HOYA SAXA!

@eem2012: same with me!! i’m kinda freaking out, because i haven’t gotten any form of contact from georgetown after the email confirmation…

Wait, what is this about phone calling?

YES! What about them? :D

HI I’m new to this thread and I’m freaking out just like you guys (I did EA) and my interviewer told me that if a person got accepted they would get a written letter and that the interviewer was supposed to call them.

did anyone else get an email from georgetown about the phone-calling business? I didn’t… what does this mean??

She is a freshman at Georgetown…I think she means that she works in the admissions office and she will be the one calling accepted students!

the person who posted about getting an email about phone calling is a current Georgetown student. I’m guessing they’re a part of some kind of student ambassador program to make acceptances seem more personal/meaningful to increase retention. like jtirado i also heard that some interviewers call (but usually after letters are mostly received).

Does Georgetown make its decisions based from the whole pool of students? Or are the decisions broken down into the schools we each applied to, and therefore we are only against those who have applied to that specific school?
Example: McDonough applicant vs McDonough Applicant
SFS vs SVS and so on

^ sorry for the typo i meant SFS vs SFS not SVS* lol

No contact, as in no interview?

I know a couple kids like that. Just remember, it is not all where you go. My dad had some friends who went to Harvard and are now unhappy and unaccomplished. My dad went to community college then Umass. He now owns his business of 25 years and has his dream job. Not to mention he makes more money than those Harvard grads. I know it isn’t always like this, but just a little anecdote to cool your nerves a little. You will be fine in the long run.

By the way, none of this is to say you have no chance of being admitted. I am sure you are more than qualified. I mean, I applied and I do not have too much hope of getting in but I know not to depend on one school as a source of happiness.

Hey does anyone know what time international kids get the email?

if you think you are in at Georgetown with no doubts you do not deserve to go there. Georgetown is a reach for everyone. Anything below a 20% acceptance rate is a reach for anyone.

Omg if letters are mailed out the 10th, i could potentially get my letter on the 12th since mail doesnt come on sundays and i live in maryland. I am freaking out so much.

AHHH! That means I’m freaking out too!
I’m soo scared but excited but scared! lol

So, I may have missed something, but am I correct in saying that we get a phone call and a letter in the mail and it will be sometime next week?

Will we only get the call if we are accepted?
Also, to reiterate my question, "Does Georgetown make its decisions based from the whole pool of students? Or are the decisions broken down into the schools we each applied to, and therefore we are only against those who have applied to that specific school? "
