Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

Wow, your application was strong! now I know to expect a rejection. Are you near Cleveland by any chance? Though I’m thinking most of Ohio will get theirs today then

I actually live in Columbus. What are your stats? Interview? I think this was the most competitive pool ever for Georgetown.

I just got my letter (I got into the college!!)

A girl at my school got her letter today (she was deferred), so I knew it was coming today. So I waited the WHOLE SCHOOL DAY then I got home to check my mailbox, and the mail wasn’t there. So I have been sitting in my living room waiting for the mail to arrive, then it finally did. Ridiculous anticipation!! of course the first thing I see when I open it is the tuition fees…

Mail still hasnt arrived and its 435…this is just going to make the deferral even worse.

mail seriously needs to hurry…

Deferred in San Diego, CA :frowning:
Letter came in a regular size, white envelope, with my name and address typed on the front. The letter was post marked on 12/9. Inside was one white piece of paper, from the Dean.

The letter stated that EA deferral will not adversely affect the final decision on my application. In recent years, approximately 10% of applicants referred under EA have been accepted, in April. Final answer will be sent 4/1. Also, can submit 1st sem. grades, any additional info. or more test scores. States that EA is especially competitive, as we knew. OH, well…FOUR more MONTHS of waiting…AHHHH!!!

Was hoping for a different decision, but… now all my other letters will come first. So stressful!!! But… it all works out; and, I’m confident.

Congrats to everyone who got in!!! :)) That is awesome.

I still have a shot, so fingers crossed.

Over 70,000 views for this thread O_O

omg…this has to be the day the mailman does not show up to work ughhhhhhhhh why cant they just use email!!!

Ugghhh not to Kansas yet:((( i don’t think I can handle another day!!!

Sent from my Droid using CC App

did anyone get accepted with few APs? my clubs, service, test scores, interview and GPA were all very strong. The only thing I am worried about is that I only had three AP classes

In Chicago still waiting. My mail shows up at 6 usually. I’m in for a rough next two hours haha.

@sporteliz: i just got in and i only took 1 ap class (our school doesn’t offer any before junior year and not many until senior year) and 1 other ap test, and this year i’m just in 3 (plus one honors, and my 5th class is kind of medium level). georgetown doesn’t seem like it’s focusing on just one element, so if other aspects of your application are great then you’re still in a good place for admission :)

anyone else whose mail didn’t come today, dreading to have to sit through another day of school…anticipating the mail.

@mdee94: ME.

The main downside to getting deferred, for me at least, wasn’t the fact that I didn’t get into Georgetown. The deferral completely shook my confidence, and now I’m thinking about all the other schools I’m applying to (JHU, UVA, Tufts) and expecting the same outcome. I’ve even begun to prepare myself for possible rejections from American and GW. I know it’s not rational, but starting the college admissions process with a rejection really gets to you.

question for those accepted, as weird as it may sound, i am just really anxious! Did your envelope feel significantly “thick” i know rejection/deffer is only one page…but just trying to get a feel for it!

Sorry Saman!! Starting off with a rejection must really shake your confidence, but know that it’s just an unfortunate coincidence that the first decision went badly- it doesn’t mean anything about your other schools. This probably isn’t helpful but try not to let it get to your head! Georgetown EA is extremely competitive and as you can see on CC they deferred tons of people who were really awesome candidates - your deferral doesn’t say anything about your chances at other colleges, so try to remember that even if Georgetown doesn’t work out you’ll end up somewhere great :)

@mdee94: it felt pretty thick- i didn’t want to assume it was an acceptance just in case but i could pretty much tell from the feel of it.

Got in!! I saw the blue sheet through the letter so I started screaming before I even opened it. I don’t know how or why I got in to the SFS. Only 33 ACT and 4.21 GPA. Maybe it helped I went to Georgetown two summers ago for program and Stanford last summer? Who knows. I agree with the posts above. It definitely wasn’t about scores this year. I was 100% expecting a deferral.

Differed from ma sfs :(
