Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

Here’s my philosophy: They had a list of names in alphabetical order in one Excel column, and a list of accept/deny in the adjacent. They added one name to the beginning of the list, and everything got bumped down one, therefore giving everyone a (somewhat) random accept/deny. Just wait two weeks. They’ll work it out when they realize something is wrong. Trololololol

I think I win for lowest SAT scores:

700 CR, 680 M, 770 W
710 USH, 600 Latin

I hardly believe that I got in. I’m so incredibly excited, but now I’m stressed because I can’t figure out how I was accepted over so many people more qualified than I. Did they send it to the wrong person??? Lol

…deferred ): dang it, well time to make myself look good for RD

What is your race? Class rank? Major EC’s? Reccomendations good? Interview? That might help you narrow it down.

Goalstop: Nice philosophy… I would have gotten in either way :D

@ whizkid94 i got in and have a 1310 sat (630 CR 680 M). definitely the lowest!

Accepted, Georgetown College from Massachusetts! 2370 SAT I but my SAT IIs were a mess…

Accepted to the College with major in Government! (: Asian Male from CA. Stats are on decisions thread

Yea, what is your race? lol

theyperch, I am waiting in Washington state too. But I doubt I’ll get in (I only got a 1790 on my SAT). If I do get in it will be because of my essays, my grades, and the fact that I’m a URM

Are other people completely confused like I am?
I’ve been going over everything in my head and I am having trouble picking out anything that really could’ve swayed my app negatively…besides that fact that there is likely a surplus of white females from New England? Just a guess…

^What are your stats?

Basically my situation exactly. I feel like I was a strong applicant but seeing all the deferrals of strong students I’m wondering if Affirmative Action played a role :frowning: (also a biracial female) The thing is, since it was so competitive everyone who got in was qualified and just had something random that got them in, so in that regard we’re basically on the same level as the others who got in- it all comes down to luck at a certain point no matter what situation you’re in.

For context, I was accepted to SFS with a 2350 SAT and a 4.36 GPA with pretty good essays IMO and ECs that showed a focus in IR. I feel like I’m qualified but at the same time so many people with amazing applications got deferred so I don’t really know what to think…

^Ok, let me clarify. If you have a 2350 SAT or a 33 ACT (like another biracial candidate who got into Georgetown), then quit wondering why you got in… A 2350 SAT is great. Yes, there are other factors in admission, but the chances are that a non-URM (under represented minority…) would get in with that SAT and GPA. When people gripe about Affirmative Action, they ususally do it having in mind the people who get accepted to top colleges with ACTs in the 27-30 range and overall low credentials.

My point is that you deserved to be accepted so you should pat yourself on the back instead of wondering why you got in. If you scored an 1800 on your SAT, then qualms would be fitting.

deferred. Thought I would be deferred, but this still hurts a lot.
