Accepted :)

I can breathe…

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far!

Have any internationals gotten an email yet?

^smwhtslghtlydzed Listen to wizkid94 because he/she speaks with great wisdom. The SFS Admissions committee would not set you up for failure. If they had any reservations about your ability to thrive in the SFS, you wouldn’t have gotten in EA (URM or not). We have many students that are 100% African American and the number of students of African descent from Europe and Africa is quite impressive. Believe me, being bi-racial wouldn’t have played a significant role in your application (in terms of Affirmative Action) here at Georgetown.

Besides, I’m sure your essay rocked! ;P

@eb9811: congrats! considering the similarity of our stats… i hope that means i have an acceptance letter waiting for me too! LOL

Congrats to all accepted, regrets to those deferred. I’d like to suggest everybody take a moment to reflect about the numbers and possible reasons for not getting accepted. The fact is that GU could toss out the entire batch of acceptances, replace us with an equally qualified group from the deferreds, and still have a class of overachievers and a low acceptance rate - that is simply a fact of the numbers. I think it does a disservice to GU and to you the applicants to think otherwise. The fact is, from my public HS, there were 3 applicants for EA; two of us got in (one M, one F, both white, affluent), the one who (sad to say) didn’t get in is African-American female, something less than affluent (though I hate to categorize). So there goes the affirmative action theory. I suspect it was the numbers: grades, scores, quality of teacher rec.s and essays. Remember, they could toss the entire group of acceptances, go to the next rank and fill the class with smart, hardworking, well-qualified kids.

I’ll answer for Arian lol, we’ve been best friends since we were 5. He’s half white and half Middle Eastern.

It just sucks that we can’t go to college together.

@allyyyy101, I am sorry you were deferred. I will most likely get deferred. I pretty much have lost all hope of getting in, which really sucks because I really wanted to get accepted. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be…

Deferred as well! Oh well, I’m definitely going to West Point now.

woo official new student orientation facebook group for anyone who got accepted

don’t mean to interrupt this Georgetown EA conversation…I’m just an interested RD applicant

did anyone get accepted with 2 SAT IIs instead of 3?

seriously shocked so many people with such great stats got deferred! i had about half as much as you people have and i got accepted, makes me feel like i sort of don’t deserve it but i’m sure everyone will have better luck in the 2nd round!

i feel the same way - i can’t believe i got in when i look at some the stats on these people who say they got deferred. i guess it’s true what they say about it being more than just stats

@jallen250 i guess so, i mean i had pretty good ECs and i sent them an additional resume since there wasn’t really that much room on their app for it, so i think that definitely helped. and i had a good interview too, but my essays were decent but they could’ve been better, i edited the first two for other schools after i sent them for georgetown so i knew they weren’t at their best. i even got into the premed program, and i figured that was even more competitive than normal admission

@allyyyy101

Really strange, I’m actually also from Bothell, but didn’t get mine today…

@anxious i got in pre-med too. maybe i’ll be seeing you in september
