Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

1570
Georgetown College

I am a little confused as to what you all are posting. Are you only posting Reading and Math…or Reading Math and Writing combined…?

Just Reading and Math. Georgetown doesn’t consider Writing.

Wow, you guys are incredible. Well, have fun at Georgetown without me :(

@Josh: Why do you think you won’t get in? :S

I have a 1400, that’s why I think I won’t get in :stuck_out_tongue:
I really stood out in Writing (800) and it’s an asset or even a hook at every other school I applied to. I don’t see why GU requires 3 SAT Subject Tests but won’t even look at the Writing.

A 1400 isn’t really that bad! I’m applying with a 1300! Haha. I guess we can’t really make assumptions at this point because we don’t really know which way it can go. I saw at least 4 people that were accepted into SFS from the 2015 and 2014 threads with scores around 1300, so I guess all is not lost(yet).

Still, we look like the underdogs. Good luck to us both; let me know if you get in!

Don’t dismiss yourself as an underdog just based off of scores. You could have much better ECs than I do or something in your app could spark some interest that mine doesn’t. Georgetown reviews holistically. Plus I’m sure your GPA is better than my 3.7 lol

1420…College

Considering my inferior course rigor and GPA, I am praying this website represents the above-average Georgetown applicant…at least I think my essays were unique. I’m starting to lose all hope…lol

I have a 3.7 GPA LOL. Let’s hope underdogs have a shot!
@eric2dea:Yeah, CC is filled with the super-geniuses. 70% of the Class of 2015, who were active on CC got in. Then again, maybe the guys who didn’t get in, didn’t post their results…but, that’s a very unlikely possibility. Here’s hoping to a Class of 2016 filled with a few underdogs! :)

Yeah, that is true. I always forget about the CC demographic. Coming on this site makes me feel stupid (I’m in the “intelligentsia” in my high school) and in fact this site provides most of my motivation, knowing that I’m competing against all you extremely competent gentlemen and ladies :)

Hey everyone,

I’m thinking of applying RD to Georgetown. I’ve taken SAT I (2230 one sitting) and two SAT II’s (800 and 790). However, I didn’t realize Georgetown needed 3 SAT IIs so I’m going to need to take one more. Since the RD deadline is January 10, would it not be possible to take the January SAT II (which is on January 28 this year!). Is this info on the website, because I can’t find it! Links please :)

Looking at the stats from my school last year, other than one student and three others who I am almost positive were athletes, Georgetown managed to pick out the top 5 in the class for acceptance, even though my school doesn’t even rank. Oh yeah, they waitlisted two of them. That being said, I’m sure Georgetown accepts some losers with weighted averages below 95 every year…

Adding my stats to the pot.

1460 SAT; 32 ACT

Applying to: the College

Remember, everyone, even though they don’t look at the writing test, they still learn how good a writer you are. That is what the essays are for, don’t forget about them. You have two real chances to prove yourself as a writer, far better than on the SAT.

Good point djz750. And if you submitted AP test scores, I’m sure that will help, as well. Post your SAT 2 scores. I got 800 on one, 790 another, and 660 on a third (which I am re-taking).

790, 770, and hopefully 700+ on Lit in December

770, 740, 720 lol… not the best but hey!
40 days until we find out results for EA! im so excited/nervous!

Did you guys interview? I interviewed in October.
