Do FA packages come with the offers of admission or do the follow?

when were decisions mailed out last year?

Our son’s admission letter from last year was dated the 25th and I believe we received it the following Monday or Tuesday (28th - 29th). The FA information came in April.

I was looking around the Georgetown/GAAP Website and noticed this:

“GAAP calls every admitted student to congratulate them as well as welcome them to the Hoya family. Phone calling is done for Early Action admitted students in December and for Regular Decision admitted students in late March.”
– [Georgetown University- Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program](http://gaap.georgetown.edu/current_students.cfm)

Is this still true? And if so, does the calling happen before letters are mailed out or…? I doubt Georgetown/GAAP would leave outdated info up but I don’t think I’ve noticed anyone mention this…

@deekshaaaa I was accepted early and I received the call 3-4 days after I got the letter. From my understanding, the only way you should get the call before the letter is if there was a mix up and the letter got delayed or the admissions office makes a mistake and calls too early.

@AngelfanKLo: Thanks for the clarification! (:

I created an account just to ask this question because it’s been killing me for weeks!

I’m going away for my spring break and leave the 29th at 11am. PROBLEM IS my mail doesn’t come until noon at the earliest. Georgetown in my first choice and I applied EA, so naturally I’m trying to get my letter before I leave for 10 days so I don’t pull all my hair out and I want to open the letter myself (meaning asking my mom to open it for me is out of the question) so I can either have the overwhelming joy of acceptance or quietly sit in a corner and die on my own. I already talked to the USPD and it’ll illegal to have them hold mail to be picked up that morning. Who knew?

Soooooo at first I thought the letter would come the 29th because decisions have come in 4 days before the official day in the past, but AvonHSDad says RD was dated the 25th last year which was a Fri and arrived the following Mon/Tues and this year’s EA was dated the 9th, also a Fri and arrived the following Mon/Tues. If this continues they will be mailed the Fri the 24th and arrive before I leave on the 27th.

Does ANYONE have a better guess? More information? Will the letters all be small? Acceptances with 3 sheets of paper, one being blue, and rejections just one?

If you read all of that you have just become my new best friend. I know, I’m insane. But thank you so much for your time! I just wasted a minute of your life.

Georgetown is a definite reach school for me, but I was wondering if someone was willing to predict whether I have any chance at all. Here is my profile:

Unweighted GPA: 3.30
Weighted GPA: 3.64

Rank: Unknown
Percentile: Top 25%

Course Rigor: IB Diploma Candidate → English A1 HL, History HL, Spanish A2 HL, Biology SL, Theatre SL and Math Studies SL.

SAT 1 - Writing: 610; Reading: 580; Math: 520; Total: 1710
SAT 2 - Literature: 630; Spanish: 710

AP Spanish: 5

Extracurriculars:
- Junior Class President
- Three years of community service (over 200 hours)
- Five theatre performances
- National Honor Society (10th-12th grade)
- Model United Nations (traveled to conference in Brazil)
- Two years on JV Volleyball team

On a side note, I transfered schools at the end of my junior year. My old school did not have weighted GPAs, thus when I arrived at my current school my unweighted GPA dropped about 1.0 points (I don’t know why). Furthermore, my current classmates have had the advantage of weighted GPAs for 4 years while I have just received the benefits this year. For example, one of my friends has an identical GPA to mine but has a 4.4 weighted GPA.

My IB coordinator clarified the GPA inflation in a letter to the schools I applied to, along with a gracious letter of rec.

Hope this helps! I’d really appreciate it if you responded! And good luck to all you guys!

idk georgetown is pretty serious about their admitted students being in top 5%, and your SATs are well below their numbers. Objectively speaking, it honestly doesn’t look good. You’re extracurriculars look solid, but nothing above and beyond the call of duty for a georgetown applicant. I’m not sure how much the IB diploma helps, although it’s probably well received with the adcoms. It might depend on the school you applied, but I don’t think it’s looking good. However, it doesn’t mean you should give up faith, as these types of colleges can never be truly be forecasted with 100% accuracy

I don’t know about the dates, but I do know that last year the acceptance letters were in regular business size envelopes, which we were not prepared for as this was a change from when my older children had applied to Georgetown.

To the person who was getting crazy about when his acceptance would arrive…just pick up the phone and call…be nice and polite and persistent (nicely)…someone will help you…don’t drive yourself crazy with worry!

To the person who was getting crazy about when his acceptance would arrive…just pick up the phone and call…be nice and polite and persistent (nicely)…someone will help you…don’t drive yourself crazy with worry! Or have your guidance counselor call …but it really should be you! If you want to do it today…then just email the person who covers your region…and you might have an email from him/her tomorrow…Adcoms know you are anxious…you are not the first nor will you be the last one who has this question! Good Luck!

Could y’all chance me please? Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

I’ve expressed interest in Georgetown by visiting the school last November. My alumni interview went very well. We talked for over two and a half hours, made a real connection and she has kept in contact with me since the interview. My teacher recommendations were from a Masters of English from Meredith College and a PhD in Medicine from Duke University, both of whom highly recommended me. I’m from North Carolina, and I was the only student from my school this year to apply. We’ve sent 5 students to Georgetown before, four of whom completed their Masters at Georgetown, and one who got their Bachelors there. I was rejected by WUSTL, which is why I’m afraid I won’t get into Georgetown.

Honestly chancing people at this stage of the game is only going To give people either a false sense of security or undeserved agony for a week. Usually chancing is to help people decide if they should apply to a specific college.

All i’m going to say is that its in North Toronto

I was just curious. I have friends from Upper Canada, UTS, and Havergal who attended Georgetown with me, and I have been back to Toronto with them many times–I just was wondering…

My d was deferred EA with 30 ACT, 35 on science (her area of interest for study), very good interview, ec’s, in a dead heat tie for 1st in class
