Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

How much will a letter of recommendation from a congressman saying I will have an internship redeem a 650 on critical reading (790 in math) and a 3.9 weighted gpa (10-15%)? I am an ap scholar, eagle scout, debate team captain and alltime leader for school, football and swimming, Nhs, ap scholar, a few other leadership positions, and had an incredible recommendation.

Still waiting in So Cal for a decision  till then can anyone let me know how I stand? Thanks!

^ I think you have a great shot.

You truly exemplify a cosmopolitan outlook plus your interests dovetail neatly with what the SFS represents. I’m sure you’ll hear great news from GTown and you’ve probably already heard great news on ivy day.

My son is hoping to receive Georgetown U SFS’s decision today, and I will post again when it’s received. We’re in NYC and he was deferred in Dec. He’s been accepted to GWU SIA (w/ a Pres Academic Scholarship), NYU Polytech (w/ a Promise Fund Scholarship), and USMA West Point.

This is a very exciting, but stressful time. You are all awesome young adults, and I wish you the absolute BEST OF LUCK. ^5 for your achievements thus far…never stop believing in yourself.

We are in a borough of NYC and the letter just arrived today. It was a rejection, but I will give you some stats on my son so you can get a better comparison for yourself:
SAT V 670 M 620 W 550
SAT II US History 720 Math 670
GPA 3.89 - top 12% of class
Natl Honor Soc, School Newspaper. Active community service–volunteer at zoo, tutoring afterschool program, congressional election campaigning. Team sports -football, tennis, rifle team captain, chief cadet officer of a USN youth program unit, Boys State NY Councilman. Awards: USN Off of Naval Research Science Achievement, VFW Exceptional Leadership Citation, Sons of the American Revolution Outstanding Citizenship.

So, he said he thinks his best route will be to accept USMA’s offer of appointment and then plan on a graduate degree with an Ivy or Georgetown down the road, despite his other acceptances with scholarships at GW SIA and NYU POLY.

Good Luck to everybody still waiting!

FYI letters have arrived today in Connecticut.

Nothing today from MN, though I didn’t expect it to be here this early at all.

Upstate NY (Albany) came today…denied :frowning:
Was kind of on the edge about acceptance, could have gone either way (1430 SAT, 93 uw GPA, AP’s, etc.) but not the end of the world.
Good luck to those still waiting…congrats to those accepted…keep your head high to those in my boat :)

I guess I am saving my luck for the lottery drawing tonight…lol

So got my envelope today with a thicker sized envelope…WAITLISTED!!! Grr…first DEFERRED and now THIS! It’s like they can’t make a decision! Does anyone know how to find your APPLICATION ID number so I can let them know I want to be reviewed on the waitlist?
